US Politics - A Society in Meltdown

Absolute fireworks in Vegas, a circular firing squad.

Bloomberg is being fucking filleted and then some. Right from the start when Warren absolutely floored him. He’s like his fellow billionaires Manchester City at Anfield in that Champions League quarter-final two years ago. Doesn’t know where the fuck he is, his head is absolutely spinning.

Sanders and Warren are completely bossing this. Sanders is like 1974 Johnny Giles. The entire thing is revolving around him and he’s going in hard in the tackle on his opponents. This is Warren’s best performance of the entire debates.

Biden is actually coming across as less shit than usual given Bloomberg’s disaster and Buttigieg’s shamelessly corporate odiousness.

Stick a fork in Bloomberg, he’s done.

The two big winners from tonight’s debate were Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump. Bernie was able to stay above the fray while the other five tore strips off each other, and Trump has to be laughing his arse off at the madness unfolding. Bloomberg wasn’t prepared at all, although won’t damage him much as he has 100X the funds of his competitors for the vs Bernie spot.

The most interesting development was that all five contenders other than Bernie stated they did not support the idea that the candidate getting a plurality of delegates should win the nomination, but rather support the DNC rules should nobody reach an overall majority. As a wise poster predicted on here weeks ago, the most likely scenario is a contested convention with some compromise candidate stealing the nomination from Bernie.

Is Little Mike going to ask Crooked Hillary to be his running mate?

One of the consistently amusing things about American politics is how shit analysts tell us that candidates in one party’s primary debates attacking each other benefits the other party for November, as I see our Republican friend has done above.

You couldn’t get a more basic misreading of the situation. Serious debates in the primaries are a massive benefit to the nominee.

And Sanders and Warren are the only two feasible nominees.

That was a trial balloon that went down like the Hinderburg.

Bloomberg’s entire strategy revolves around Super Tuesday when 30% of the delegates are decided. He has spent around $124 million on ads so far on those states, Bernie in comparison has spent $10 million. Bloomberg’s ads are very good as they are 100% focused on why he can beat Trump, Democratic voters are polling 2:1 that getting rid of Trump is more important than any other issue.

It’s turning into a complete shit show, Buttigieg with the line of the night last night when he asked “why don’t we select an actual Democrat” rather than a moderate Republican or Independent socialist. Two 78 year olds on opposite ends of the ideological spectrum duking it out like a scene from The Irishman.

“There are two people Putin pays - one is Rohrabacher, the other is Trump” - Republican House leader.

He really is a stunningly ignorant person

The public get what the public want.

During the Irish election campaign, you consistently referenced Donald Trump as a warning against Sinn Fein. You have to make up your mind whether you are for him or against him.

The public voted for Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 2.86 milion.

There’s a particular poster on this thread who has made it his business to normalise fascism. Every post he makes on this thread is framed through the prism of fake normality. Fake normality is how you end up with fascist kleptocracies.

Poor old Sid/Sidney/Sid Waddell is seething.

Banned on boards again for calling everyone that disagrees with him a fascist.

Sinn Fein would do well to keep these kinds of nutters at arms length.

This fella is off the scale rattled. Shouting maniacally about a lad that no longer posts here. It would remind you of his hero Trump’s mental degeneration - not that there was ever much to degenerate.

It’s a fascinating watch. But I feel it won’t end well and we should offer help of some sort.

What did you have in mind?

An intervention from God

@anon7035031 is guilty of many things on this forum - anti-Semitism and other racism, whitewashing the Saudi regime defending the use of nuclear weapons, and calling for mass ethnic cleansing etc.

But there’s a good argument to be made that his worst crime on this forum is grooming @myboyblue into thinking he has any contribution to make on any matter whatsoever.

It’s almost Tom Humphries-esque in its exploitation.

It’s bizarre carry on. Whoever this Sidney fella was he clearly got inside poor auld labane’s head to an abnormal degree. Labane should probably go speak to a professional about it at this stage.
