I don’t disagree that kids should learn a bit more about the history of different cultures in school. When I was in primary, it was 100% white Irish kids, so I can’t comment on what a classroom is like now. Where do you fit in Polish history, African history, Asian history, Australian history etc, at the expense of Irish history…?
They should start with bits of the book: King Leopold’s Ghost. It wasn’t only the big bad Americans or big bad British who were bad to Africans…
There was an interesting part in the book, about some educated black American guy who went back to Africa with the objective of surveying land where black Americans could go to and basically set up their own country. Essentially going “home”…

I was thinking more about the hodgepodge effort they called “Irish history” when I was in school, and having the educators address the mass-marketed historical myths they teach kids. History is a rewarding and engaging subject, but only when the documentary record isn’t suppressed. @Thomas_Brady might be more qualified to comment. He previously referenced an interesting text by David P. Nally; “Human Encumbrances: Political Violence and the Great Irish Famine.”

Reading this thread this morning, I can’t help thinking that America deserves to burn. Men who will say absolutely anything or make any mental contortions to avoid saying that the USA has a racism problem that affects the police and is worse than most other countries.
I’d say that these protests have ruined their lives but to be honest this behaviour is just pretty typical of them for a long time now. They will get the country they deserve.
