You simply can’t allow a few speedbumps derail the splendid idea that is capitalism. People lived in squalor before the rise of capitalism in the 19th century, without it Irish people, including myself, would be still eating mashed potato gruel, fighting over the skins.
Yes, we have had two collapses since then, the 1930s and 2008/9 but that’s part and parcel of capitalism. It beats fucking 50 years in the gulag or starving for the want of a bowl of rice. Arguably both collapses didn’t have to be as bad as they were if not for central bank meddling, but you can thank government for siding with those whose greed caused the collapse.
Socialism is based on the idea of all humans being good. They’re not, simple as. There are very few humans that can be trusted, and all humans are capable of good and evil with a few being capable of great good or great evil. Humans respond best to incentive, and capitalism is the only economic system that provides incentive, socialism is on a par with welfare in that respect. You have to incentivize those that have great ideas, otherwise why would they bother their holes?
What would be good for Afghanistan? Leave and let them sort it out like Iraq, Provide another convenient spot for ISIS to rebrand?
CNN have considerably softened their stance on Trump since Bannon left. At least we now know who the elites really feared.
