Surreal. Reagan himself would be horrified id say

What next

Don’t think Orwell would even have thought of that.

This is on the same level as Kissinger’s Nobel prize.

Gorka being reported to have resigned.

The regime isn’t Nazi enough for him, apparently.

I still read this quote at least once a week.

“So I deal with foreign countries, and despite what you may read, I have unbelievable relationships with all of the foreign leaders. They like me. I like them. You know, it’s amazing. So I’ll call, like, major — major countries, and I’ll be dealing with the prime minister or the president. And I’ll say, how are you doing? Oh, don’t know, don’t know, not well, Mr. President, not well. I said, well, what’s the problem? Oh, GDP 9 percent, not well. And I’m saying to myself, here we are at like 1 percent, dying, and they’re at 9 percent and they’re unhappy. So, you know, and these are like countries, you know, fairly large, like 300 million people. You know, a lot of people say — they say, well, but the United States is large. And then you call places like Malaysia, Indonesia, and you say, you know, how many people do you have? And it’s pretty amazing how many people they have. So China’s going to be at 7 [percent] or 8 percent, and they have a billion-five, right? So we should do really well.”

I was listening to him last night on the BBC World Service. Insufferable arsehole was the phrase that came to mind.

He’s got to have some form of dementia surely? He doesn’t drink apparently, which would be an easy excuse.

They are getting it bad in Houston. A years worth of rainfall already in the last few days. Reservoirs having to be emptied now as well which will exacerbate the flooding. Potential $ damage in the region of that post Katrina (though hopefully without anywhere near the same level of fatalities). Huge chunks of Houston are built on flood plains apparently, a level of stupidity we can identify with here. Weather guys are worried that the storm will go back out to sea regain strength and come back, but either way the flood damage will be catastrophic and will take years to rectify. They are already saying some areas will be flooded for at least three months.

Luckily they have a strong decisive president to take control of the situation

Could the KKK be drafted in I wonder, their cloth robes would have great soakage.

He snuck in a controversial presidential pardon in advance of the Hurricane so at least he’s not letting the opportunity go to waste.

Some areas have been deluged with more than 30 inches (76cm) of rainfall in the last 72 hours, according to the latest figures from the National Weather Service.

The worst hit area was Berry B Forest Oaks, in Harris County, where 30.56 inches have fallen since Friday.

16 inches (40cm) in a day at the airport. :no_mouth:

To put that in context 75cm to 100cms would be the average rainfall for the whole year on the east coast of Ireland. Circa 140cms for the West.
