US Politics - A Society in Meltdown

Is Trump that worlds greatest ever WUM?

It appears that way, yes.

Which world?

You have to be a different planet to create an eclipse.

Is he saying he’s an alien planet?

What kind of person with a functioning brain would not argue for quality in government, regardless of its size? Are you arguing for shit quality government, like Ireland has?

You’ve never argued that. You’ve just spouted libertarian slogans at every turn.

What’s shit about Irish government exactly?

I was going to say Republican voters but the bit about having a functioning brain rules that one out.

Why would anyone need to argue for quality in government? Who would they be arguing against? People who believe the opposite, that shit government is good?

As for Ireland, let’s take the example of the HSE. Would you say that’s an example of quality government?

Ok, do tell us what’s wrong with it.

I’ll let the esteemed Professor John Crown tell you what’s wrong with it. To save you time reading the article, his conclusion is “it is run by technically deficient, medically illiterate bureaucrats”. The sort of people you probably think are grand lads altogether.

Legend

Why would I think they are grand lads?

It’s an odd article. He doesn’t propose a way forward. He also says it’s not the fault of the administrators as they are doing what we ask them to do.

You haven’t made a point yet.

You are the one who has to back up your point, which is that big government leads to an increase in personal freedom (whatever that means, as you haven’t defined it). The author you claimed backed up your argument actually debunked your argument. The HSE is the perfect example of what is wrong with government, clueless bureaucrats with zero accountability.

I am in favor of the smallest possible, highest quality, and most important accountable government. It’s what the people paying for it deserve.

Crown does point to two ways forward, the US and German models or perhaps a hybrid.

He doesn’t suggest the US model.

Is English comprehension a problem for you as well?
What part of 'At an institutional level we must move to the US model" is hard to understand.
In terms of treatment and outcomes for patients, the US health care system is the best in the world. It has plenty problems as well such as high costs and essentially a noncompetitive monopoly insurance model, but the quality of health care delivered is top notch.

Copy & Paste alert…again

He is suggesting hospitals be run similarly to the US, he doesn’t suggest a US model of health care because no one in their right mind would suggest that. Of course he overlooks the fact that it’s easy run a hospital when everyone is paying full whack.

You still haven’t made a point.

Interesting purported attacks on US diplomats in Cuba. Details are fairly scant at the moment but they are claiming some form of “acoustic attack” was carried out on the homes of embassy staff members.
