I was involved in a pub conversation with a person in October 2024 where the person sincerely made the argument that they had great faith in American institutions and checks and balances and that if Trump won, they would serve as a genuine moderating influence.
I laughed.

No, what is needed is the abolition of all and any state support, serfdom, indentured slavery and especially gestapo to round up anybody who complains and send them to gulags in El Salvador without any due process, as if sending somebody to a gulag in El Salvador could ever be a result of due process.
Gestapo and gulags in El Salvador and the utter impunity of the pig rich who control Government to do whatever the fuck they like (woteva, I do what I want) are the ONLY examples of good BIG GOVERNMENT. That’s GOOD GOVERNMENT.
