US Presidential Election 2016: Sidney's Victory Lap

Rigged like UFC, or rigged like COTY?

Is COTY rigged? Ah fuck, another dream ruined.

That Ted Cruz is one creepy bastard alright, makes my skin crawl.

Decided by big business and who will best serve their interests. I have recently read a book about American politics and society in general so I am now an expert on the topic.

I had previously known that there was tampering involved in Bush jnrs original election but didn’t realize how bad it was, nor that it was a whole pile worse for his second election. America is the most undemocratic nation on the planet yet the lie that it is otherwise is generally accepted across the board. It’s absolutely mind blowing.

Last night’s democratic contest was apparently decided on a series of coin tosses, and now they’re saying on Twitter it was called wrong and that Sanders should have got the win rather than Clinton. The Yanks have had awful trouble with calling the toss this year.

The smart money is now moving heavily to Rubio to be the nominee by March (Florida and Ohio will be decisive). Cruz and Trump are unelectable so the big money will pile into the Rubio campaign. He will be a formidable opponent, the Hispanic vote alone could be decisive as Repub candidates bombed with that demographic in the past two elections.
The Democratic race will go on and on and could get nasty, the Clintons wouldn’t be known for playing nice. Unless the email scandal brings her down Hillary should win but a lot of damage could be done to secure the nomination. She could have a real problem getting the young vote out who are strongly pro Sanders.

Rubio’s another fuckin creep, apart from sanders on the D side there isn’t one good candidate on either side,Feel the Bern

Senator Cruz had the ground game, which in a caucus scenario is key. The most notable outcome was Rubio very nearly taking second place with a stronger than forecast vote. Senator Cruz was widely forecast to win Iowa anyway up until mid-December when things started to slide and then Gov Palin’s endorsement for the Don.

The problem now though is that they go to New Hampshire where, the Don aside, it’s a different set of candidates that are in contention. Gov Kasich I think is showing up in second place. There was some talk this morning that Rubio might be a dark horse there though; it’s probably hard for a conventional conservative like Senator Cruz to win in New Hampshire. It should be more Don friendly though than Iowa and if he posts a convincing win, its back to square one.

New Hampshire is a bit of an outlier too and is home to a huge number of moderate Republicans. Social conservatism doesn’t hold much sway there, which is probably good news for the Don. It’s when they get to South Carolina that it will get interesting. I presume the GOP establishment will be hoping for young Rubio to get a bit of momentum. If Rubio ends up facing Hillary its effectively 1992 all over again – the ageing establishment insider against the young plucky upstart - except this time with the Clintons on the receiving end. Hillary is an unconvincing frontrunner and an unconvincing candidate. She’s there for the taking in November, even with the chaos in the GOP field.

Good turnout for the GOP caucus too in Iowa which is generally seen as a good sign for the GOP.

Trump is fucking away any bit of chance he had left with his meltdown on twitter. Cruz has him badly rattled.

:grinning:

What’s he basing that on?

He’s some WUM, he’s like a fella that would be on the INTERNET all day arguing round and round in circles.

He basing it on ‘Shut the Hell up and mind your own business I@m trying to win a war here!’.

He’s claiming that Cruz put out rumours during voting that Carson was quitting the race and this caused Carson supporters to change their vote to Cruz.

I’d say Trump is almost glad at this stage. He’s gotten the publicity he wanted, and is now looking for his exit. He’s had his fun, now you can have it back.

He makes out that Cruz put out a release during prime time of the Iowa caucus that Ben Carson pulled out of the race and that all of Carson’s voters should vote for Cruz instead, which according to Trump “many” of them did. Carson hadn’t pulled out of the race at all. :grinning:

Was that actually put out there?

Cruz is an awful sneaky bastard though capable of anything. Just look at the head on him.

Did ye see this:

“There’s not a day goes by when my mom is not lifting me up… in prayer… For hours… at a time.”

He’s like an evil Marty Huggins from the Campaign movie. Complete with the two little kids and two little dogs and everything.

CNN fairly stitched him up releasing those outtakes. :joy:

The wife would get one.
