Allow me help with this one…

For context Michigan has a population of about twice that of Ireland and Flint is about the size of Limerick. All the decision makers in the Flint water crisis were Democrats. The city council, mayor, head of the local Department of Environmental Quality and the Emergency Manager responsible for overseeing the city’s finances. The root of the crisis was the decision to switch water supply to save money, as Flint is bankrupt and has been for decades. The old supply was cut off and the new supply not ready, so the decision was made to switch in the interim to the highly corrosive Flint river. This was done at the local level by a Democratic city council, signed off by a Democratic EM, approved by the local Environmental Dept.

Whatever about the bungling of local corrupt politicians, the real villains here are the local Dept of Environmental Quality, run by Democrats, who knew about the problem and did nothing. They failed to implement anti corrosion measures and then when the lead problem emerged, ignored it as their testing showed lead levels below the 15ppb limit recommended by the EPA (as it turned out a relatively small number of homes had levels higher than 15ppm, some though at horrendous levels).

No question the Republican governor was also culpable, and should have acted sooner, but to politicize the problem as HRC did in her campaign was just disgusting. The root cause was a bunch of people not doing their jobs and they are being held accountable.

Insanity is as insanity does.

Whatever happened the POTUS twitter handle?

Trump’s new immigration ban struck down by a district judge in Hawaii.

He’s just been shouting like the madman he is about “unprecedented judicial overreach” at some “campaign rally” thing a few minutes ago - I presume there’s an election next week or something.

Perhaps he should be shouting at himself about “unpresidented incompetence”. Expect the shouting at himself to come very soon, if indeed it hasn’t already started.

The US has made a formal apology to Britain after the White House accused GCHQ of helping Barack Obama spy on Donald Trump in the White House.

Sean Spicer, Mr Trump’s press secretary, repeated a claim on Thursday evening – initially made by an analyst on Fox News - that GCHQ was used by Mr Obama to spy on Trump Tower in the lead-up to last November’s election.

The comments prompted a furious response from GCHQ, which in a break from normal practice issued a public statement: “Recent allegations made by media commentator Judge Andrew Napolitano about GCHQ being asked to conduct ‘wiretapping’ against the then president-elect are nonsense. They are utterly ridiculous and should be ignored.”

Half of Trumps White House is Irish American

Gonna be fascinating to hear what is eventually leaked out of Trumps White House about Angela’s meeting with the Donald’s yesterday. He was seething with her in the post meeting presser, absolutely seething.

You don’t mess with the leader of the free world.

Trump tried to do it and came out looking like a 12 year old boy throwing a temper tantrum.

Lovely piece. Mike is a great guy, a better friend to Oireland than Obama ever was, but the Oirish media fawn over Obama because he’s a hip celeb.

I loved the way he used “top of the morning to ya” the other morning, it was so natural too.

Come back @ProjectX. The arse has fallen out of the market since you left and nobody believes Trump any more now that you’re not around to cheerlead for him. The Dow has fallen for the 8th day in row!
