If you are looking for an Irish American Democrat to support then Martin OâMalley is your man. Biden wonât run, but OâMalley could emerge if Hillary stumbles, which is fairly likely. He has all the credentials, seen as a Washington outsider like Clinton was in 1992, and even plays the banjo.
No question there are many nutters among the Republican field, but Rubio, Walker and Jeb are all serious candidates, and all could beat Hillary. It will all come down to the economy, if it is in the shit by mid 2016 then any serious Republican candidate will win.
I think itâs probably too early for OâMalley, he doesnât have the profile, but could definitely be a runner in the next election, which would be good. Whatever happens, the next holder of the office will not be impressive, the field is strikingly shit, Democrat and Republican, barely a fucking brain between all of them.
Bill Clinton had no profile either in 1992, other than blowing sax and getting blown. I agree candidates from both sides are less than stellar, all the more reason for a surprise candidate to emerge, but difficult to do given the funding required. The level of disgust with politics and politicians of all flavors is at an all time high in the US, but thereâs no obvious solution as anyone with an average let alone above average brain goes into business not politics. Other than Elizabeth Warren there isnât one politician from either party who has the intellect to understand the nature of the problems the country is facing, let alone have any idea what to do about it.
Bernie Saunders will walk this.
OâMalley isnât a serious contender. He was here recently and I was talking to someone who met him while he was here, they were surprised by his lack of charisma. Iâm not even sure heâd work as a VP candidate for anyone.
Chris Christie must be absolutely seething about Bridgegate. Given how poor the field is he could have been a serious contender if he hadnât gotten caught up in all that.
Debate night on Thursday night anyway with Donald Trump at center stage. Should be entertaining.
What channel has it?
Iâll be getting the snacks in for it like the superb owl.
9pm on Fox News.
Picked up an aunt of mine at Dublin airport yesterday. Got chatting about it. She reckoned the nomination at least was Hillarys to loose. As regards the republicans, theyre starting fights with paper bags but she reckons Bush will get the nod as hes the only one who might get the moderates and the tea party brigade toward some bit of forign ground

Never mind
Debate off to a great start, Trump refused to rule out running as an independent. Rand had a go at him about buying politicians before Donald reminded him of all the money he had contributed to Rand.
I like Megyn Kelly.
Agree rating
She would be a tremendous hatefuck.
The debate wasnât as much fun as I thought it would be. 10 on the stage is too much. The numbers will be whittled down for the next one I assume?
Megyn Kelly is 45.
That was the most watched primary debate in history last night. All very entertaining but the Republicans need to be narrowing this down sharpish.
Bad news for Hilldog
Could work in Bernies favour though
