US Presidential Election 2024 - Here comes Agent Orange Elect

We successfully invaded Canada

It’s was racism and sexism that cost her the election, not the fact she was a moron.

Hot Take: There won’t be a female USA President in the next 30 years. One look at Tattle would tell the Democrats a lot

I’m sorry, what? What is your point?

Have I Got News For You is one TV show which has about 14 episodes a year. It’s been largely very average for the last 20 plus years.

You expect Have I Got News For You to have stopped Brexit?

The UK is a society which shares many of the same pathologies as the US. 35-45% of the UK voting public believes in most of the same things Trump supporters do. They believe in imperial might, of the myth of an “exceptional” country, of the eternal innocence and virtue of Britain’s empire. They have a pathologised hatred or suspicion of “the other”, which can be anything from blacks to Muslims to Irish to gays to transes to working class northerners to Scousers. Basically anybody who raises their head above the parapet and speaks an uncomfortable truth or merely exists as somebody who is not a representation of caricatured straight ruling class whiteness or a minority agent of caricatured straight white bigotry.

What the UK also has is a corporate mass media, the most influential parts of which set out to disinform, spread hatred and poison public discourse. You seem to unaware of the existence of that.

Like Peter O’Hanrhanrahan, you’re adding absolutely nothing here, and you’ve completely airbrushed the fact that you were a very enthusiastic supporter of Trump in 2016. Well done on that.

I don’t think she was a very good candidate but she wasn’t a moron.

This is nothing to do with what I’m posting.

You made a claim on satire, seemingly unaware that the Colbert satire is long gone.

The point is on fragmentation.

Modern media came around in the U.K. when they had a population that had largely evolved as a homogenous group over centuries.

The U.S. has been a melting pot for nearly 200 years.

Your perspective comes from seeing how it works in the likes of the U.K. But this is like asking for a Europe wide satire to be developed and to succeed widely when you talk about the U.S. historically.

When will the insurrection take place?

They voted for an impeached felon, it was a bit of racism and sexism.

There’s remarkable resistance among men to women being in power. It sort of doesn’t help that young men are subscribing in ever increasing numbers to the MANLY MEN anti-women online grift of Andrew Tate, Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson and others like them.

What Peterson said about women having to be like men is true and that’s been demonstrated. But the point is, Peterson believes that’s how it should be - that for women to have any success in their career, they should have to behave like men.

The cancer of misogynism is rife among men at large.

There have been two highly electorally successful female leaders in the western world - Margaret Thatcher and Angela Merkel. They both had to behave almost as a caricature of men to attain success. They would have failed otherwise.

Theresa May was destroyed in some respects because she wasn’t very good at her job, but primarily because she was too female, seen as too visually “vulnerable”, and men rejected her because of that.

Liz Truss was obviously an utter cretin but would have lasted longer than she did had she not been a woman. Kemi Badenoch is most certainly a minority agent for white supremacism and utterly appalling as a presence in public discourse and politics but it’s precisely because of her blackness and her femaleness that she’ll completely bomb as Tory leader. Whereas a white man who behaved in exactly the same way and says the same things would be highly popular with the reactionary public.

Hillary Clinton on the other hand was seen as being too like a man in her behaviour, too shrill, shrill being code for “I hate women”.

The reality is that men have a long, long way to go, especially in yahoo societies like the US and increasingly the UK.

Men as a species have a long way to go yet to treat women as full human beings and they’ll likely never get there.

I tried to warn you about her small brain…soppy cunts like @Juhniallio and @Locke lashed out at me for pointing this out… a whole bunch of simpletons liked a post juhy posted crying to me

This is a series of sentences which amounts to a word salad and adds precisely nothing.

I neither know nor care what you are posting, and neither do you, seemingly.

A like is not an endorsement.

In fairness, @Locke showed his true colours with his tik toking since and youve nailed him

Hang on - didn’t Trump far out perform expectations with women voters?

I am giving you some insight here.

The point is the U.S cannot be compared to what you got on your antenna from Wales. Mass produced in the U.S. never caught what it did in the likes of the U.K., even if we hear about the likes of Seinfeld.

But as networks and cable grew there we saw a lot more- if you don’t think the Simpsons, Curb, Colbert, Veep, South Park and many others weren’t great satire then you’re a bit lost.

He’d be hammering just white men as well now if we hadn’t seen it across the board.

In fairness you had the likes of Scott Galloway with his finger on the pulse with this.

Taking identity politics to the Nth degree & hammering 25 year old men for the sins of generations before them (although I am not altogether sure that your average male had it so sweet either) has not worked. Particularly so when we have such tangible evidence of that identity / gender “falling behind”.

I suspect the Sid style of lashing out at specific demos won’t be pursued beyond this.

So it turns out the economy is an election issue. Who would’ve thunk it.

Yeah well quite clearly his female supporters have their own internalised misogyny issues. I remember seeing a scene in ER where a black woman was attended to by a black doctor and refused to be treated by him, she wanted to be treated by a white doctor.

When you have a thousands of years old, deeply ingrained ruling culture that says women are of inherently less worth than men, a lot of women will believe it.

The same dynamic exists with people from other traditionally marginalised or minority demographics in society. Somebody from a working class area who has gone to a non-fee paying school is likely to experience some form of inferiority complex if they have to deal with somebody from a privileged background who displays the traditional markers of privilege. All sorts of other similar inferiority complexes exist.

Trumpism and all fascism is based on the imagined primacy of men but in reality it’s based entirely on fear. Creepy right wing evangelicalism is based on the imagined primacy of men and the fetishisation of women as a submissive being. That’s why you’re seeing shite like Andrew Tate and the irredeemable cult of the tradwife catch on like wildfire. Technology has given it an avenue and it spreads like a virus.
