I wouldn’t let Shapiro within a country mile of the presidency, and Newsom’s ex-wife makes him a complete liability candidate. The dems need to re-think the whole show. Here’s the reason people warn of what can happen - because they don’t want it to happen and they want to spread awareness that without an organised campaign to stop it happening, it will happen.

America is now facing into the very real possibility of there being real death camps for migrants. If there is, Trump’s support will not go down, it will go up. Once you go fascist, there is never a line that can be crossed where your supporters say, “that’s enough, we’re deserting you”. With every line crossed the fascist becomes more popular.

Cassandras are always vilified by everybody. Most people are lying when they say they want straight talking. What they actually want is a soothing world of copium and denial and to be medicated out of existence as the shit hits the fan.

There’s a great American journalist/writer called Sarah Kendzior who has been spot on about Trump and what he is since day 1, she’s been spot on about basically everything. She’s also been spot on about Democrats and the state of America from day 1, that institutions would not hold up in the face of fascism and that Democrats weren’t serious about defending democracy. She’s on the money about the desperation in America and the real root reasons for it. Lack of access to healthcare, shit workers’ rights, opioids, racism, divide and rule tactics, corporate dominance. But because she consistently criticises the Democratic party as well as being fervently anti-Trump and being mid-western - she’s from Missouri - she’s marginalised and vilified from every side, despite the fact she’s categorically correct about basically everything. She used to get the very odd off peak slot on MSNBC. No more.

This is a juvenile, trolly and flippant reaction to a very serious point.

If there aren’t death camps it will be because good people have managed to oppose them in enough numbers to stop them, that the numbers who protest are so great that a gestapo cannot deal with them. If people are beaten, threatened, cowed, disheartened or imprisoned to the extent they tune out or are not able to protest in sufficient numbers, death camps likely will happen.

If they do not happen, it will not be because the regime did not want them, but because of heroic ordinary people.

You can’t deport 20 million people without there being death camps. It’s a mathematical certainty, as somebody on a sinking vessel once said.
