I donât think that anyone would seriously expect a panel of talking heads in Dublin to doubt your view. However the reality is that the events of 9/11 were a gamechanger for the human rights agenda and concepts such as international law. Western democracies will still pay lip service to these concepts when it suits them but they largely now ignore them when it matters. If you look back in fifty years time you will note that 8/11 was the highpoint of personal freedoms and that these freedoms were steadily eroded after that date. And the general public didnât really care.
At the risk of being pedantic, should that not be 9/10 as the high point date Fagan?
