I would have thought Conors was more underrated than overrated. An out and out corner back and probably the best in the country for a few years.

Is there some question that ballygunner intermediates could go to senior? A fella from down that way told me it wasnāt dealt with in rule bookā¦seems ridiculous to me
Sixmilebridge had two senior teams back in the 80s when their second team won the inter. Two panels named at the start of the year, no crossover

This has Ger Cunningham in Dublin written all over it. Waterford donāt have 2 better corner backs than Noel Connors.
From 2017 they are now down Coughlan, Connors and De Burca. Fives x 2 are pretty much injured permanently.
Waterford are in the more difficult side of the league next year and are likely to ship a few hidings. I can see Cahill walking away pretty quick if things arenāt going right. His reputation will still be intact and he can always fall back on the āThese lads are beyond helpā excuse.

Ah Noel was bet the last two years and whatever Shanahan was going to do at Intercounty senior level is done by now. Plenty good, young, hungry hurlers in Waterford, give them a chance.

There arenāt.
I had high hopes for Hahessy and Darragh Lyons a few years ago but they havenāt pushed on. Ian Kenny will surely get a recall if heās staying around.
Coughlan was nothing special and was well minded by De Burca but he had 3 important things in a full back.
- Knew his limitations.
- Pace.
- Cynical enough to foul when needed.
They have gone to shit at the back since he left.
He was dogshit bad you clown.
Bad enough to be nominated for an all star 3 years in a row.
Other full backs have taken far bigger roastings than Coughlan ever got. Cahillane, Barry, Holden to name but a few.
Prunty was decent this year but is as injury prone as they come. The bottom line is Waterford are absolutely fucked and Cahill is taking a major risk discarding Connors when the alternatives just arenāt there.
There is no place in modern day hurling for traditional corner backs like Connors.

Coughlan is useless if you want a hurler, Pro Wrestling would be more his level.

Thurles Sarsfields have 2 āseniorā teams at the moment.
Broadford who won the intermediate in Clare yesterday only got past the Bridgeās inters in a penalty shoot-out in the semi-final. Massive numbers in that club.
Kiladangan are something similar in Tipp. Through to both the senior and intermediate semifinals
