Watford v Reading - weird

Did anyone see the goals from Watford v Reading earlier.

Report from BBC:

Reading’s opener, which has been officially recorded as an own goal by Eustace, will go down as one of the strangest goals ever.

Stephen Hunt whipped in a corner which was contested by Noel Hunt and Eustace at the near post.

The ball bounced over the line - four yards wide of the goal - before being hooked back into play by Noel Hunt.

Reading’s Andre Bikey headed back towards goal, where keeper Scott Loach made a save, but the linesman had already flagged - for a goal.

And referee Stuart Attwell gave the goal to total bemusement around the stadium.

Sounds bizarre

havent seen it but looking forward to seeing it

great to see hunt doing well - 3 goals in 2 games- should be in line for a cap now

Just discussion, no sign of goal yet

Similar one from the Bundesliga a while back:

Since when do assistant referees have managers!!

This is actually quite incredible. When i heard it first i assumed the lino was on the opposite side to where the “goal” went in i.e. i thought he was on the endline looking through the side netting when the ball crossed the endline, thus thinking it was a goal. But he was actually on the same side to where the ball went over the endline so how he can give it just completely defies belief. I can only assume the ref thought the lino was giving the goal from the follow up shot where the 'keeper beat it away. Both officials should be tarred and feathered and chased around the pitch at Watford’s next home game.

You could give some bit of lee-way if the linesman had been on the opposite side. Couldn’t believe it when I saw he was at the same side. What a joke.

Speaking of crazy refereeing only saw this for the first time today. Johnny Doyle getting sent off for Celtic for hitting the ref with the ball

That is unbelievable!

I see where the Football League has turned down a replay request from Watford, even though Reading agreed to it, as the referee’s decision is final!

Never seen that before! Thats mad! He met him a cracker though!

That’s mental. I thought he was going to deck the ref before he decided to leg it away.

I think Reading were happy enough to offer the replay to be honest. Might have been a different story if they’d won.

Why did yer man leg it off in that fashion? Was he off to get somebody else? He seemed to be being restrained then when he got to the sideline. Crazy stuff.
