WC qualifiers October 15

Uruguay will also have to take the play-off route despite beating Argentina 3-2 last night. Their opponents will be Jordan. Maxi Rodriguez scored twice for the Argies, I thought he was well past it.

is that a home and away affair jimmy?
Amman is a madhouse

It is indeed Mickee, sometime in November. You’d imagine Uruguay should make short work of them all the same.

ah you would, they are poor and im very surprised they came out of the asian section
i wouldnt put it past uruguay insisting the jordanian leg be played at a neutral venue for security reasons TBH, uruguay are spineless enough old cunts

@Sidney
can you please surmise the qualifying situation in africa and oceania please?
how did Gadaffi Zayed do with Libya?
thanks

I saw Ethiopia lose 1-2 at home to Nigeria. Fortress Addis Ababa indeed.

They just weren’t hungry enough.

Nigeria starved them of possession.

 Bob Geldof being blamed for the Ethiopans lack of hunger.

Ethiopia’s thin resources and skeleton squad really worked against them and it now looks like they’ll be picking through the bones of a brave but ultimately failed qualification attempt come November 18th.

I surmise that Ghana, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Nigeria will qualify from the African section and that New Zealand will lose to Mexico.

Zayed and Libya lost away to Cameroon in the final group game in a match they had to win.

There was a massive crowd of 80,028 at the first leg I believe

The Ethiopians were lightweight up front. In fact their two strikers weighed a combined nine stone.

the famine continues for ethiopia

No wonder when they were feeding on scraps.

It’s a real irony that Ethiopia’s capital city is named after the world’s most popular brand of lunchbox. What a pity that Ethiopian football fans are tonight feeling exactly like the lunchboxes of their children - empty.

It’s a terrible pity really. They already had Geldof lined up to do a re-working of “Do they know it’s Christmas” as their World Cup song-

Do They Know it’s World Cup Time.

It’s World Cup time, there’s no need to be afraid,
At World Cup time, we let in light and we banish shade,
Brazil have plenty, we just want the one,
Throw your arms around the World Cup this Summertime,
But say a prayer, pray for the other ones,
At World Cup time, it’s hard but when you’re having fun,
There’s a World Cup Group awaiting
And it’s the group of death and fear,
We hope the only water flowing isn’t the bitter sting of tears
All the other teams that play there
are about to meet their doom
Well tonight thank God it’s them instead of you,

And there’ll be no Eritreans at the World Cup this time (Hahahaha)
The greatest gift they’ll get this year is a seeding for the African cup,
Oh they’ve never won fuck all, they’re shit at Football
Do they know it’s World cup time at all

Win the World Cup,
Let them know we’re a force to be reckoned with at International level,
Win the World Cup,
Let them know we’re a force to be reckoned with at International level,

(Repeat to Fade)

The writers of that stole my idea.

 Ah sure go on Sid, give us your version.

It’s Christmas time, and now it’s time to be afraid
At Christmas time, we get the IMF and we feel the pain

Farewell our world of plenty, we can spread some poverty
Give your money to the banks at Christmas time

But say a prayer – pray for the bondholders
At Christmas time, it’s hard, but when Europe points a gun

You get your world view from the Sindo
And it’s a world of debt and fear
Where the only money flowing evaporates and disappears
And the stock market bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom

Well tonight thank God it’s us instead of you

And there won’t be hope in Ireland this Christmas time
The greatest gift we’ll get this year is lies

Where the economy never grows
No cash, no money flows

We don’t know it’s Christmas time at all

Here’s to Europe
Raise your glass to Germany
Here’s to Anglo
and to poor, broke AIB

We don’t know it’s Christmas time at all

Feed the banks
Let them know it’s Christmas Time
