It’s not ridiculous though even if it may seem so. We have no idea what the odds are of life emerging from inanimate matter and thus can’t even put a number on the probability. It could be so astronomical that even with the size of the known universe the chance of life emerging is extremely low. Until we know how life emerged we are just speculating. Although it sounds ridiculous we might just be here out of dumb luck, like heads coming up thousands of times in a row or Limerick winning an AI (extremely unlikely but possible), and are all alone in this vast universe.
