Fitzhenry played almost all of his hurling out the field for his club and wears a helmet. I’m sure he’d prefer to be without in goal though.
Will always wear one. Still have a few scars though, 2 on back of head and scar on the ear too so doesn’t always save ya. Although i know it doesn’t cover your ear.
It’ll be hard for some players. It was noticable yesterday that stephen doyle of wexford started off with one but it was off after 10minutes.
Thinly veiled “priests are rapists” post.
It could, but what its full of now is anyone’s guess.
Christ, thats not where I was going with that comment at all.
Considering giving it one more year, Mycro do very snazzy helmets these days. Some change from the old birdcage jobs

Why not ???
Yours in playing by the rules but goring a few players along the way but it’s not my fault, the GAA made me wear it,
GSH.
After 4 or 5 game in a helmet it will become second nature again…Just fuck it on the first night back training next year and wear it as often as possible and my the times the evenings strt brightening up you will be the finest…I have a couple of vintage coopers in decent nick, wonder will they go up in value once this rule is enforced
Yours in not willing to jizz in my helmet,
GSH.

Is it wrong that I thought of him too when I saw it?
Waterford’s Kelly slams the GAA
Waterford star Eoin Kelly has accused the GAA of treating players like children in an extraordinary outburst against the new rules in the game.
Dise man Kelly told hoganstand.com: 'They treat us like kids.
'Next year, it’ll be “Get your mammy to put on your helmet for you before you go out and play”, or something stupid like you can’t wear studded boots.
'That’s the way it’s going, every year it’s something different. They do it for the National League and then they scrap it and go back to normal.
'There are games that fellas are training for for six or seven months, and the game could be changed on a ball given wide or something like that - they’re the issues that should be improved on.
Kelly added on the compulsory helmet rule: 'It’s going to be hard. The GAA should really look at fellows over 25 who have not worn a helmet for 10 or 15 years.
'I don’t know if it is driven by insurance companies or what, but it is going to be wicked hard on Dan Shanahan, Ken McGrath and fellas like that - they have not worn a helmet in 20 years. I have not worn once since I was 11 or 12.
‘As John Mullane said, it’s grand putting it on in the winter, but when you’re going out on a sunny day it is going to be hard. It’s like being stuck in a small room. It’s very claustrophobic.’
I heard this tard on the radio this morning. Sounded like a comedy sketch.

Kelly for Idiot of the year.
Clown. Is he supposed to be a role model for young hurlers in Waterford?
Given that we’re through the Intercounty year, this seems to have caused little or no trouble. Marquee men like Mullane, Cusack, Cummins all got by with having to wear the helmet this year with few if any ill effects. Still not natural seeing Mullane with a helmet on mind you, but it didn’t affect his scoring rate thats for sure.
May not be natural but surely TV ratings for waterfords matches went up with people no having to look at his ugly mug during the match?
The fact that he wasnt cut or concussed in any games probably helped him a fair bit this year.
It’s only a matter of time before there is a serious clamp-down on the helmets.
Some of them on show on the TV in the recent club games are nothing short of a disgrace.
I was only thinking of it the other day watching Thomas’s.
Cooneys helmet has fucking wings on it because the guard doesn’t fit the helmet.
Grand until it isn’t. Could do damage if it hit your helmet funny, or caught your finger
