The court heard O’Brien had 535 previous convictions and was currently serving an eight-month sentence imposed on him in Kerry, which was due to expire on June 29.
Sgt Cloonan confirmed O’Brien had several convictions for other burglaries going back as far as 2009. There were 37 for thefts, 405 for public order offences, with 339 of those for being drunk in public, and 10 for assault.
Two sad cases. There should be some sort of forced rehab available for them or something, with the cost to the state of locking them up, public defenders, court time etc etc etc it’d be cheaper to give them a house, lock them in and give them a bag of cans every day
This is a bit of a bizarre story, apparently the hubby assaulted the wife and she wants to press charges but asked for him to be released to attend the wedding party
