Well Holy God

Says a lot about the man that the hate filled bunch on here cant say a bad word about him.

Give it time. Give it time.

My auld lad went to seee this about six or seven weeks back, it was “The Matchmaker” by John B.Keane. He talked away to him at parent teacher meetings a couple of times as well, Mick’s son was in my brother’s class at school. Mick had no airs or graces about him.

Ah thats terrible news. RIP Mick.

Didn’t some charity use him for voice overs around Christmas. Can they keep using his voice as it was all pre-recorded?

Bothar?

Kilmeaden will never taste the same again. You could say it was the fillet of cheddar.

That’s the one. The are we there yet, are we there yet one I think.

Great scene from Reeling in the Years of the Jacobs television awards from around 1981. Gabriel Byrne was a big winner as was Mick Lally apparently, and the shot they showed of Mick was with a couple of birds hanging off his every word at a table. It was reminiscent of Snoop Dog or someone like that (well as much as an Irish actor at the Jacob Awards in 1981 could remind you of that).

The tune that was playing was ‘My God it’s so hard to be humble’.

Teacher, theatre founder, actor, chart topping musician, voice over artist, atheist, GaelgĂłir - some man

RIP Mick

Roly Toys salesman

Ah yes

This is awful,RIP Mick.

It’s hard to think there could be any other candidate for the 2010 TFK Alright Sort of the Year, posthumous section. A top man.

That time he rode Fidelma sent shockwaves through Irish society. I believe Biddy wasn’t putting out at the time.

Mick was a staunch socialist.

Fidelma is on Liveline now talking about that infamous roll in the hay. Niall Toibin on too.

The Abbey will give Mick a standing ovation tonight after their performance of The Plough and the Stars.

I was gargling with Micks son one night. From what I could gather Mick was a bit of a drinker.

arent we all?

rip mick

Mick Lally’s character in Glenroe was famous for his saying " Well, holy God!" But Mick has strong views on religion. He told Miriam “I take no heed of any of religion. I classify myself as an atheist. I think it is all a load of nonsense. They tried to make a priest out of me and failed miserably.” He continued: “All this talk about a wonderful God and how he made all men equal - he didn’t make people equal. Look at the poor people in Haiti. What is equal about them and the savagery that was visited upon them?”

It seems both Miley and Biddy were godless. Perhaps Fidelma was the only good one out of them all after all.

I don’t know if Biddy could be classed as godless
