are giving this Sunday’s game the cold shoulder. They have failed to snap up all of the 4000 tickets they were allocated. There is a public sale in Wexford Park this morning. I would expect a few Dubs to make the trip down !!
dancingbaby, there is historically no support for Wexford footballers. When we played Dublin in the 2005 Leinster Semi Final I think they sold about 1,500 tickets.
Everyone goes on about how colourful and great our hurling supporters are. That’s not true either. They’re also a crowd of bandwagon jumping fookwits who only support the team once there’s a hint of success. There was 28,000 at the Leinster Semi Final double header in 2004 when we shocked Kilkenny. Then, hey presto, there was 50,000 at the Final.
It sickens me completely that my fellow county men put their heart and soul into playing for the honour of our county and then last Saturday night only 10,000 supporters, between Wexford and Dublin, made the trip to Kilkenny. In fact there was probably a good chunk of interested locals there making up a large section of the crowd. For fook sake it’s the fooking championship - get up off your asses and support your county.
Though I think the hurling situation is bad it’s way worse for our footballers. We have one of the most gifted players of this generation in Forde and fook all of his county people can be bothered to go and give him and his team-mates some support.
If shitty provincial soccer teams in England can get 30,000 to see their teams every week then surely we should be getting crowds well in excess of that for all championship games and not just for Dublin games and the latter stages.
