What are the odds +13 Puke? Can’t get betting websites in work as a result of an internet crackdown.
well thats what thedancingbaby has posted…saw somewhere else that +15 was available…
Didn’t even see Baby’s post for some reason. Wouldn’t back them at that price.
What odds are Wexford -13 points? If we get a good start then we could give them a roasting.
Reckon you’re right Bandage. KK in for a licking on Sunday.
I’m worried…

Cody, is that you?
Yeah, I can see Brian Cody having Iggle Piggle as his Avatar alright.
Well he’s a little iggle piggle himself on the run up to any Wexford match.
Maybe he has the young U14 fella working the forums for him, Cody’s a sly fox…
Well, there is a bit of red in it to match his rosy red cheeks.
PS: Locke, I will be adopting a hostile tone towards you for the next 5 days.
The additional day will take into account the day after the match in the event of us suffering an almighty hiding.
One request, if you do batter us then jeer the fook out of us please rather than gtiving us the ‘hurling needs Wexford’ scheidt we get from your brethren in the pubs!
From today’s Irish Times-
Bluffer’s guide to Leinster SHC Final
What is it? In an incredible turn-up for the books, Kilkenny will meet Wexford in the provincial final this Sunday - the pair have met at this stage six times in seven seasons.
And? It has been the same result each time. Apparently, it’s a blow for hurling that Dublin aren’t the ones receiving the beating from Kilkenny this weekend.
The average margin of victory by Kilkenny in those six finals since 2001 has been almost 10 points a game.
In fact, Kilkenny and Wexford played three times in senior fare last season: the NHL semi-final, the Leinster final and the All-Ireland semi-final. Kilkenny won all three easily, and by a combined margin of 40 points.
So what do I need to know? No matter what Brian Cody or anyone else in the Kilkenny camp says beforehand, this Sunday afternoon will probably be a walk in the park, and a rather deserted park at that.
Croke Park will barely be one-third full of its capacity. Hurling fans can be loosely divided into two camps. One lot will be heading to Croke Park on Sunday simply to enjoy watching some of the best hurlers in the game. The other, rather larger camp need a game to have some prospect of being close in order to bother making the trip. They will not be coming this weekend.
So avoid it? Certainly if you are any way squeamish you should steer clear. What’s amazing is that the Kilkenny versus Wexford mismatch will probably be the most competitive of the three senior hurling championship matches on this weekend. And that’s saying something.
On Saturday, Laois play in Galway, and Antrim - who should be allowed sue the GAA for their treatment in the new intercounty championship - are down in Waterford. Both home sides have the potential to put up huge scores.
If you bet on Waterford and Galway to win this weekend, and Kilkenny to retain the Leinster crown, an accumulator bet of 5 would yield a profit of, erm, 23 cents.
A similar 5 bet on the three outsiders would - apart from turning the world on its head - yield around 22,000.

I’ll have to e-jeer you Bandage as I’m going to miss my first Leinster Final since 99 when I was stateside. The fact that TV3 are showing the match isn’t putting me off though; good commentary and analysis so far from ITVEire.
But stop, I’m presuming KK are going to give Wex the hiding of their lives, ain’t going to happen. Going to be a close game. Weather a factor, Wex in the long grass a factor. KK a tired team a big factor. I don’t know, could be a pitch invasion, al 2004 in the offing…

ah come on JL, surely now is the time for a bit of norman assertivenessand arrogance
admittedly, you’ve been the the humility act well since 04 but cmon with the state of wexford hurling… I mean the only driver for them is that the footballers will get further than them and that hasn’t been a danger of happening since…

From IT:
Impossible deleted from the lexicon for Meyler’s men on a mission
THE WEXFORD manager John Meyler gave the media the impression earlier this week he was not concerned by mind games ahead of the Leinster hurling final against overwhelming favourites, Kilkenny. But who could blame the man for dabbling in minor psychological warfare? Brian Cody would expect nothing less from a worthy opponent.
So, no surprise then when official word came out of the Model County late on Tuesday night that Meyler would not be releasing his team until tomorrow night. Surely it’s no coincidence this is the same time Cody always announces the Kilkenny line-up.
Holding off on team selection until late on Friday ensures minimal coverage, and so minimal exposure, in the lead-up to a game.
Most of Saturday’s print coverage is feature-based, ensuring only a dramatic change in personnel will see the copy exceeding a few column inches.
“We’ve had ongoing problems with Ciarn Kenny; he has a broken bone in his hand so he’s out for another two or three weeks,” said Meyler.
“Stephen Nolan has a broken thumb so he won’t be ready for three or four weeks. MJ Furlong has a broken fibula, which is probably 10 or 12 weeks. John O’Connor broke a foot training with Rathnure during the week so he’ll be missing as well.”
Fears for arguably hurling’s best goalkeeper, Damien Fitzhenry, were, however, allayed last Monday at the press gathering in Carlow.
One thing about Meyler is he knows how to talk a good game. An engaging individual, he brings the winning mentality gained when switching allegiance to Cork hurling from 1983 to his inter-county retirement in 1987.
When asked about the size of the challenge ahead, he replied: "I think Mission Impossible was based on a tape that lasts 10 seconds; you just have to do whatever you’re supposed to do. Mission impossible is on a tape and it’s to beat Kilkenny next Sunday in Croke Park. That tape will self-destruct in 10 seconds; either we’ll go out the door or not. I’m certainly not backing off.
“These two guys (Keith Rossiter and Damien Fitzhenry beside him) aren’t backing off. Brian (Cody) has his job to do, I have my job to do. It’s not mission impossible, no. I don’t believe in things like that.”
Okay then, but nothing has changed in the past 12 months to inspire a rational observer to believe Wexford hurling is closing the gap on Kilkenny. Meyler choose to echo the 1966 hit record by the Monkees.
"Because I’m a believer, I believe in belief and in the players that are there. Kilkenny are the barometer. They’re at level five and if you want to compete you have to get up there with them and Brian has developed that over the last 10 years, a tremendous belief in winning.
“And that’s what we’re trying to instil in the Wexford team at the moment; that we’re as good as Kilkenny and we have to believe that we’re as good and that we can win, otherwise . . . mission impossible doesn’t enter my vocabulary.”
There was an obvious comparison - well, such is the rich history of Gaelic games there always is - and Meyler recalled the Cork footballers’ plight during the Kerry monopoly of the 1970s.
“I’m good friends with that Cork team and they went out to face possibly the greatest football team ever and they had to do it, and we have to face Kilkenny.”
He could have sat there and gone through the motions but Meyler appears to be the right man for Wexford hurling right now.
He said before the Dublin games his team would prevail if they reached their potential and that stance has not wavered in the face of the All-Ireland champions.
“If I can get 15 fellas playing to the best of their ability, Cody is going to be in trouble.”
Having read that article and Keith Rossiters in the star today it seems there is a belief within the camp strangely enough. I myself think if we stick to a game plan (whatever that may be) we have a chance and we may suprise one or two folks. The big question: Do we have the players to execute a game plan? It’s Wexford Vs Kilkenny. Simple as, anything is liable to happen. Quigley and Redmond will work as a midfield i think, if Quigley could give some lads like P.J Nolan some of his energy levels we’d be ok. Were going to need Eoin’s work-rate in every single one of the players that have a part, 1-20. Doran was a success at centre forward the last day, so it will be interesting to see how he goes on Brian Hogan. Team is being named tonight, i’d say we all know what it is at this stage anyways.
I think the big question is if we have the mentors to give a gameplan.
Time will tell. Fingers crossed.

Rossiter ignores supporters pessimism
03 July 2008
Wexford full back Keith Rossiter admits that there is a lot of pessimism in the county ahead of Sundays Leinster SHC final against Kilkenny, but insists that he and his team-mates are paying no heed to it.
The Slaneysiders have been on the receiving end of some heavy defeats from the Cats in recent years, but a defiant Rossiter is convinced that can compete with - and beat - the All-Ireland champions this weekend.
The Oulart-the-Ballagh clubman explained: "A lot of people say, a few of my cousins even came up to me and said: Get it to between eight and 10 points and well be very proud of you.
"Jaysus, Im not going up to Croke Park to waste my time to get within eight-to-10 points of Kilkenny. Theres a lot more things I could be doing - I could be going on foreign holidays, I could be going out at the weekend.
“Im not putting myself through the sacrifices to go up and be beaten by 10 points by Kilkenny and be happy with it. If I didnt believe we could beat Kilkenny, I wouldnt be playing and its as simple as that.”
I actually think Wexford will come out with fire in their bellies on Sunday and play to their maximum.
Kilkenny by 23
