Wexford GAA 2010

He’s a hurler from Ross-they usually get a raw deal.

The Wexford team to play Westmeath in the opening round of the NHL Division 2 has two newcomers included on it.

Eoin Doyle and Darren Nolan, playing at corner-back and wing-forward respectively, make their first league starts for the Model County.

Doyle from the Shelmaliers club is a student in St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra while the Oulart-the-Ballagh clubman, Darren Nolan is also making his debut on the Allianz scene.

Dermot Flynn takes over in goal from the recently retired Damien Fitzhenry and Keith Rossiter and Colm Farrell are both back in the fold following long term injury lay offs in 2009.

Wexford (NHL v Westmeath) - Dermot Flynn, Eoin Doyle, Paul Roche, Keith Rossiter, Darren Stamp, Ciarán Kenny, Ritchie Kehoe, Willie Doran, Colm Farrell, Diarmuid Lyng, PJ Nolan, Darren Nolan, Rory Jacob, Stephen Banville, Peter Atkinson

Was Rory Jacob one of the “dropped” players?

no mick was and rory i think was saying he wasnt going to play because of it…

Yeah so much for those rumours doing the rounds. Every night ye go out ye hear a diferent story about our hurlers and who was dropped, who has left the panel etc.

U21 footballers will start (and probably finish) their Leinster championship campaign away to Louth today. Wasn’t initially sure how I felt about us featuring a player called ‘André’ but that’s what you get on the eastern seaboard. Paul Carty’s the actual manager but he can’t be listed because he’s employed as a full time GAA coach:

How come Spot Murphys brother wouldn’t play with the u-21s bandage? That team could do with a forward or two.

any updates/

Lost 4-16 to 0-8. It was 2-9 to 0-4 at half time.

Not sure about Paul Murphy - he might be gone back playing association football with someone, I’ll find out.

shite, heard louth were good anyway

We’re 0-13 to 0-6 ahead at half time in Mullingar. We’ve got 8 points on the trot in the last 10 minutes before half time.

16 to 12 according to Aertel

We won 1-20 to 0-14.

Simba Berry with the goal - pinged into the top corner.

Good to see Shane Roche scoring 4 late points agaisnt Louth in O Byrne cup decider, also a different option for free taking if Lyng is having an off day.

any word on the draws for the chship taking place tonight, with 3 teams going down a soft group will be vital in staying up.

Football
Sarsfields, Shelmaliers, Clongeen, Duffry Rovers.

Hurling
Faythe Harriers, Rathnure, Oylegate / Oilgate / Oylgate, Cloughbawn.

And another hard one in the hurling:
Brazil, Spain, Bayern Munich and LA Lakers.

Good draw for perenial favourites Ballyhogue in the football, while both Groups C an B look like they might turn into bloodbaths

Any chance of Intermediate football and Junior C hurlign Padjo?

No HWH Bunclody in senior football, FFS.

They’re down a few years now Fitzy. They were in the relegation semis last year in Intermediate to boot.

This year they have to come up against the hurling focused St Martin’s, perennial under acheivers St James’ and nobody-know’s-what-to-do-with-them Craanford.

DIfficult to see them coming out of that group.
