Wexford GAA 2010

Rathnure won by 3-12 to 1-13 or something like that. Not sure about the Alley.

One of the Alley lads got married on Saturday so don’t think they were playing.

result of the weekend;

ST james’ 4-22 Tara rocks 1-7

The DOC seemingly had a fine game on saturday and done himself no harm in his chances of getting a re-call to panel.

Footballers have a challenge match this Friday in Kildangan against the lilywhite inbreds. 7pm throw in.

Kildangan? Fuck, awkward enough spot to have a challenge game.

kildangan are opening the pitch or some such gav

David Redmond was meant to have hurled well in midfield for Oulart the other night - Gav, does he have any intention of making himself available to the county team this season?

Shocking error by Alan Aherne in today’s Wexford People stating that Glynn and the Martin’s are in the same senior hurling group as the Shels and Askamore. Really, really terrible stuff.

bandage coming down hard on aman who reportedly bleeds red and gold.

I can’t condone such a blatant error despite both of us being attached to Wexford’s greatest club.

You would never catch Ronan Fagan making basic mistakes like that.

Is he the same Alan Ahearne that sometimes writes for the indo?

Their surnames being different would suggest not.

one of his sisters seems half decent in the standard

Ah for fuck sake. Just catching up with The Echo and Ronan Fagan has indeed made the same mistake as Alan Aherne. I can only guess that the Fixtures Committee listed the groups incorrectly in their schedule sent to clubs and media. Still, that’s shocking, shocking stuff and nearly as embarrassing as Paul “I can’t finish a sentence without saying ‘eh’ at least three times” Rowley on the South East Radio’s Sports Hour.

Hopefully he makes himself available, wouldn be fit enough though idsay due to being away… turns out those rumours were false anyway, for the better anyway cause he’s def good enough for 1st 24.

Suppose next senior club championship match will be months away now will it?

I see those boggers from Oilgate/Oylgate/Oylegate have objected to Wexford Park as the venue for their senior hurling game against Faythe Harriers – it’s now on Sunday evening in Taghmon. The Harriers could be in a spot of bother here – Jim Berry has a plate in his broken arm and I don’t think he’s going to make it. Emmet Keeling has emigrated. Barry Goff has retired. Lee Chin, Jason and Paul Murphy are all playing in the Oscar Traynor All Ireland League final against scumbags from the Clare League on Sunday so it’s a pretty decimated squad.

Faythe Harriers and Oilgate/Oylgate/Oylegate-Glenbrien drew 1-9 each this evening. Richie Kehoe went off with a knee injury early on to add to all those missing above so it was quite a struggle.

Ballyboden beat Askamore in Leinster League Division 1 semi final today, 2-27 to 2-22 after extra time.

This is from Hogan Stand, I assume Matty is spoofing. A half fit Matty would still be miles better than a few of the lads currently pulling on the jersey.

Matty Forde has ruled himself out of Wexford’s Leinster SFC quarter-final against Dublin on June 13, despite returning to training last month.

Forde, who is only back from a long-term back injury, reckons the Dublin game will come too soon for him.

“I came back training after the end of the league, but it’s about a year-and-a-half since I’ve done any serious training. So I’d be a long way behind the rest of the lads in terms of fitness and football sharpness,” he told the Irish Examiner.

“The match against Dublin is less than four weeks away and I don’t feel that I will have enough training under my belt to play a part in it.”

The 2004 All-Star is under no illusions about the task facing Jason Ryan’s charges against the five-in-a-row Leinster champions.

“It’s the toughest draw we could have got,” he said.

“When we played them in the 2008 Leinster final, they beat us by a cricket score. They were unlucky not to be in the Division 1 final. But like Dublin in Division 1, we were very unlucky not to make the Division 3 final.”
