they lost to Fethard in their first outing by a point, altho Fethard had been winning by 4 or 5 coming to the closing stages. they beat Ballyhogue then, and were up by a good bit but got lazy towards the end and let Ballyhogue back closer to them. And in the last game against Horeswood, they were kinda holding on for a while, but Horeswood just upped when necessary and gave the ball to Banvillle who ended up scoring something like 3-5 against them. ran out easy winners in the end. they dont have too bad a side tho, some good under 21s on it. itāll be a tough one for Sarsfields. and will Sarsfields be missing some players? Did I hear right they had a player sent off for hitting a linesman?
It was an accidental coming together of bodies. Iām sure of it.
well what I heard was the linesman was pulling a player out from an all out melee, and who ever it was just struck out behind him not knowing who it was. all hearsay tho, Iām sure youāll know more about it!
Thatās basically it. There was a wrestling match behind the goal involving a few players and the linesman came across and tried to pull him away and he swung back instinctively thinking it was a Shels lad. I donāt think he caught him too badly but I saw on Sky Sports one time that you canāt raise your hands. Andy Gray said it so itās clearly true.
just looking at those draws again, and the intermediate, it would be some time to get promoted. itāll be fair tough to get out of intermediate next year and from now on.
Hmmmmm, itās almost like thatās what the Co Board were planning.
Imagine them sneakily making Intermediate a higher standard.
Damn them, damn damn damn them!
Good to see.
yup, will wait and see how it goes tho. for all the efforts Wexford are making at underage, the focus seems to be on winning the Tony forrestals or Arrabawns rather than full development of large squads. Iām not at all conviced by Storey as manager of that minor team either. but this seems to be something, and at least will give some profile to underage hurling in the county.
Devereux said: "Nothing is ever achieved by one man. It has been said āwhy donāt we get a group of people together to advise usā?
Inspired thinking there.
GAA Man comes up with idea to form a committee.
ALL roads lead to Wexford Park on Saturday evening for the do or die senior hurling clash between Faythe Harriers and Cloughbawn. The winner will progress to the quarter finals and the loser will go into the relegation section. Huge stakes, especially with 3 teams going down this season as the championship transitions from 16 teams down to 12 in 2010 and 2011.
Iāve been pretty vocal in my criticsm of Wexford County Board on this thread but credit where itās due - the County Board, and the Fixtures Committee in particular, have really come up trumps this weekend in looking after the interests of Dublin based Celtic supporters who want to go out and get pissed in the capital tonight, watch the massive Caley Thistle-Celtic game tomorrow lunchtime and still be back down to Wexford Park in time for the Harriers to destroy some bogger bastards. 'Mon the Harriers. :guns: :guns:
Oh what a treat to witness a majestic Harriers side destroy Cloughbawn by 2-18 to 0-12 and progress to the quarter finals. A really good display and the decision to go with youth was completely justified by the performance of the county minors Lee Chin at half back and Rhys Clarke up front. Last yearās minor PĆ”draig Farrell got a quality goal and they were on top all over the field. Richie Kehoe was very commanding at centre back and Jim Berry got a string of points from centre forward from play and frees. Kevin Gore followed up his outstanding performance against Rathnure with another excellent game - this time at midfield. Itās ours to lose now.
I didnāt get down in time for the first game but the Rapps pipped Glynn-Barntown by 1-18 to 2-14 with a last gasp goal to go through and send Glynn-Barntown out. The lads were saying that Skippy Ruth was exceptional for the Rapps.
I see the rug munching beasts won their semi-final today against Kilkenny.
A piss up in Croke Park to round off the season; ah lovely.
saw the highlights of the camogie on the news, there was some of the usual shocking goalkeeping including the kilkenny keeper making the worst attempt I ever seen in contesting a 50/50 ball with a forward, literally put the hurley out in front of her like she was pushing the vacuum around at homeā¦
on the 9 o clock news as we speak
Askamore have knocked out St Anneās tonight. Fair play to them after coming up from Intermediate last season. Itās not a big shock but a surprise all the same.
Was a very decent game of hurling too, red barry a huge lose to annes, broke his thumb at training thursday night doing penaltys at the end of it i believe, was standing in the goal and ball hit the thumbā¦freak injury.
Hopefully the draw (being made tomorrow night) throws up some tasty encounters. Oulart are clear favourites obviously, but elsewhere its tough to call and should be some cracking games.
All the very best of luck to Oilgate/Oylgate/Oylegate-Glenbrien in their County Junior Football quarter final against Clonard this weekend.
The quater final draw was made tonight and is as follows :
Rapps Vs Alley
Rathnure Vs St. Martins
Oulart Vs Harriers
Askamore Vs Ferns
Some very competetive games coming up.
Everybody would have wanted to avoid Oulart.
