Wexford GAA 2010

No comment yet on the new minor management down wexico way?

This is the second time you’ve mentioned this - what are you on about?

Griffin and storey? The latter had them last year, they spent most of their time in the gym, made to pick one sport also…

Griffin helping out with Storey? he’s been doing it on and off for a few years now. not sure why this is any different than other times. and anyways, its not so much the influence that Griffin will have on the minors, but curbing the influence on Storey stroking his ego.

Didn’t realise Griffin was involved with Storey. I’d say Griffin has helped out with nearly every minor team at one point in the last 6 years.

Storey, while being a great servant to Wexford made a right fuck up with the minors last year. During the minor semi-final against Dublin he had his back to game getting his photo taken with some kid during the first half. A lot of the decisions he made that day were a pure mess as well. He’s still learning I suppose so Griffin should be a help to him in that regard.

Why do people from other counties tend to give it the “I know something but I’m not going to say what it is” routine. Anyway, I couldn’t give a fuck about Griffin formally coming on board. Hurling is dead in Wexford.

You’re an internet weirdo m8. Congrats on getting the inside track, throwing it up here in an “Ask me what I know” sorta way and getting a bite at the second attempt.

I agree wholeheartedly with Bandage on this one.

Strange, i knew he’d been helping out in one shape or other but i thought ye’d welcome a formal link up. Given the constant moaning on this thread towards the underage set ups and the county board i thought this would be welcomed thats all. I thought it was common knowledge bandage, but next time i’ll announce it just in case you don’t approve of my approach. Is there any other recommendations for approaching queries on other county set ups? Wouldn’t like to make the same mistake again and upset you.

MBB is rattled to within an inch of his e-life here.

its been reported all week, why i dont know, no huge news. i dont think getting the manager of the 1996 team to help out what minors now is a step forward… and th eproblem isnt in management of minors.

its skills development at a far younger age.

I’m actually surprised MBB didn’t throw in a nickname for Griffin or Storey with this one as well.

It was common knowledge-wouldn’t mind that Mac fella, hasn’t a clue what’s going on.

No big news-Griffin is brought in for some role in one of the age groups nearly every year.

Bunclody will certainly add a certain smell colour to the higher ranks alright

Rattled, badly.

Huh? Why’s that?

Do they have nicknames? I wouldnt know to be honest.

Fair enough so.

Yes, that’s fine. I’m sure with hindsight you’ll agree yours was quite a ridiculous approach in this instance.

Castletown were beaten 0-12 to 0-10 by Skryne in Navan today.

Oulart are away to Raharney of Westmeath in the Leinster semi-final next weekend. Lots of talk about them being in with a great chance of going far in this but they weren’t tested at all in Wexford and have disappointed more often than not outside the county. They seem to have taken their game to a new level but they still have it all to do.

I’m gutted to see Pat Doyle retire from his GAA administration duties after 30 years of loyal service. The quotes in the below Wexford People article are in no way a thinly veiled “I was happy to fulfill roles that involved no responsibility and/or accountability and it was also a treat to get good mileage from being a Leinster Council representative but fuck it for a game of soldiers if you expect me to do the Development Officer role where clubs never stop ringing me looking for assistance with various projects.”

None of the other positions at Convention are being contested.

As an aside, I simply can’t believe that Colm Bonnar is commencing his third year as Wexford senior hurling manager. Fucking hell.

Doyle steps down after 30 years

Development Officer not seeking re-election at Convention

COUNTY DEVELOPMENT Officer Pat Doyle is calling an end to a 30-year reign at the top table of Wexford G.A.A.

The popular HWH-Bunclody clubman has decided not to allow his name go forward for a second year in the post, with nominations for County Convention closing this Friday.

Although Doyle gave a huge commitment to Wexford G.A.A. over the years, he now feels this is the time to introduce ‘young faces’ to the G.A.A. in the county.

During those years the HWH-Bunclody clubman served as Assistant County Secretary, Leinster Council delegate and more recently County Development Officer, a post to which he was elected at last year’s Convention when Derek Kent stepped aside.

First elected to office way back in 1980, Doyle now sees the role of Development Officer expanding much more.

'After 30 years I felt it was time to stand aside. I’ve enjoyed the majority of years involved in the Association in the county, made great friends, and had the most enjoyable of times.

'With the role of Development Officer now to expand even further with new responsibilities, I feel this is for a young person, a person with an appetitie to take on the challenges.

‘My decision is a personal one. I have no grudges with anyone but I believe now is the time to introduce young blood to the G.A.A. There are plenty of them out there.’

Doyle leaves behind a long legacy and it’s easy to forget how things were when he came into the Association.

For a start, clubs were embarking on huge developments which are now there for everyone to see.

As Assistant County Secretary, he oversaw much of this development at club level, while he also progressed this area when elected to Leinster Council.

But it was during the past year as County Development Officer that Pat saw at first hand the huge workload being placed on voluntary officers.

'I took over from Derek Kent at last year’s county Convention. Derek did a massive job during his term. I just don’t know how he got through so much work with the clubs.

‘For me personally, but for the help of Derek, I would not have got through the workload during the year. For that I’m extremely thankful to him,’ Doyle added.

But it already appears as if this will be the only change at the top table for the 2011 season.

Ger Doyle will be returned for a fifth and final term as County Chairman.

Annual Convention will take place in the Ferrycarrig Hotel on Monday, December 13.

Hard luck to Castletown, my parents reside about 50 metres from their pitch and my cousin is a forward. Tuned into RTE Radio 1 when it was just over and I think the reporter said it was 2 late enough points what killed them off. The drink deserves to flow in the Golden Anchor anyhow.

im sure there will be alot of sore heads around castletown in the morning and that the anchor will be opens till the early hours tonight

anyone know how the Marys got on?
