Wexford GAA 2010

Danny Gardiner apparently.

Clonard winning the county final hasn’t been as sickening as it might have been given they were already promoted by virtue of reaching the final because of the restructure this year.

As regards senior, I didn’t think Castletown had it in them to beat Kilanerin in a county final - very long overdue win for them in fairness.

Senior Hurling Final on this Sunday between St. Martin’s v Oulart-The Ballagh.

But I imagine the most interesting game for neutrals will be the Senior Camogie Final pitching perennial champions Oulart-The Ballagh up against a revitalised St Ibar’s outfit on Saturday afternoon. I, for one, just can’t wait.

A bridge too far for the Ibar’s today as Oulart-The Ballagh won by 2-16 to 0-14. Michelle Hearne falling pregnant and being ruled out was a mortal blow in hindsight, as was Katrina Parrock’s ankle injury.

Bunclody won the Intermediate Hurling Final today, beating Shamrocks from Enniscorthy by 2-17 to 0-15.

I’m not going to the Senior Final tomorrow as I detest both teams. I also have a couple of amusing Colm Bonnar stories that I’ll post later.

http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-happy-smileys-864.gif Bring it on!!!

Proved to be the seed of their downfall I’d say.

Here’s one. Colm Bonnar phoning a Wexford hurler to drop him from the panel:
Bonnar: I’m ringing to let you know that we’re not picking you for this season’s panel.
Wexford Hurler: Oh right, that’s disappointing…
Bonnar: We just don’t think you offer enough. You’re not even doing any hurling with the college.
WH: I was centre back when we played you (WIT) last week and I was on the Fitzgibbon winning team last year.
Bonnar: Okay.

FFS what a Gowl. No sorry a gowl is useful,

I’m assuming this is a wind-up…? Amusing all the same.

Oulart wont he co final 1.14 to 0-6. it was some shite. one of the worst games of hurling I’ve ever seen. and it was a lovely stiill dry day, absolutely perfect for hurling. Martins got the opening score thru Pauid Kelly, nice point, and Oulart picked up a couple of handy points through Rory Jacob and good long range score from Paul Roche at half back. Kelly had a great chance of a goal, but denied by a great save. Oulart finished the half with a free for I’m not exactly sure what, and it was 4-1 at half time. unbelievably depressing stuff though.

Second half started a little better, Martins got a quick score, and Oulart scored a scrappy goal. Any time the Martins got a point though after that, Oulart got 2. and so the game which was stop start with injuries and frees and time wasting pettered out with Oulart comfortable enough at the end. Dont know who was given man of the match, maybe David Redmond deserved it. but there was few players who stood out at all. Wing forward for Oulart got some nice scores in second half, Sean Murphy I think?. Hardly anyone for Martins stood out at all. As mac said to me, probably summed up Wexford hurling for the last year.

Wexford county final on tg4

the martins are alright sorts, which makes bonnar a uber cunt.

Gaffer Dempsey has been returned for another term. There’ll be a lack of St Mary’s Maudlintown representatives on the U21 football panel now that Paul Carty has been replaced.

From the Wexford People:

Dempsey back as Kehoe takes up football reins

TONY DEMPSEY has been returned as Wexford Under-21 hurling manager for a second successive year.

Dempsey guided the side to the Leinster final during the summer where they lost out to a late Dublin flourish.

The ratification of the former Senior manager did not come as a surprise, particularly in view of the progress which the Under-21 side made this year.

Dempsey will have 13 of the starting 15 once again available for next year. He will be joined in the backroom team by Garry Laffan, a member of the 1996 All-Ireland winning side, and Oulart-The Ballagh’s Paul Dempsey.

Meanwhile, Gusserane clubman Kevin Kehoe has taken over as Under-21 football manager.

Kehoe, along with Aidan O’Brien, has guided Good Counsel College to provincial and All-Ireland Senior football success in the past. He has managed the Wexford Minor football side before and also has previous experience at Under-21 level. The new manager has still to decide on his backroom team.

Warmest wishes to St. Monica’s (Edenmore) in their Leinster Club Junior football championship match against Clonard on Sunday, October 24th.

I believe someone womens footballers are getting each other in headlocks over the bounty final down there this weekend? Anyone care to elaborate about these beasts?

but an influx of gusserane men methinks…

Thats quite a minor hurling management team Wexford have lined up…

Ladies Football County Finals for Junior, Intermediate and Senior were on weekend of September 5th
with Gusserane in the Junior and Shels( I think if they won this weekned) in the Senior Leinster Finals this coming weekend

Shels lost to the Dublin side at the weekend.

According to His Royal Highness Spratt the Senior Football side played a practice game in Dublin last weekend (against Cavan I think) and the U-21 hurler met up over the weekend as well.

   Yes they fucking did and it was a great night in Bunclody, g’wan the Halfway. They lost the football final of course, strange to think we’ll have a senior hurling team next year but not a senior football team. Miley Connors should be a shoe in for the Wexford team next year. No doubt Bonner will be calling him soon, if he knows his name that is.

I am led to believe the senior hurling final was one of the worst games in the entire history of the sport.
