Who possibly could you be referring to, gola?
Dunph?
That prick noddy. Stick your chest out proudly and wear your county polo shirt bandage you’ve nothing to be ashamed of.
He traineed last night i hear, nice to see it getting competitive in the forwards will hopefully bring out the best in them.
Just arrived into a packed Wexford Park for the NHL Division 2 clash with Antrim.
Pretty sure it is Division 1B, pal
Half Time: Wexford 1-13 Antrim 1-9.
Rocko, can you add the “informative” button on the app please?
Full Time: Wexford 2-21 Antrim 1-12.
We have a cracking young team.
Will the new full back Shore up the defence Bandage?
We discussed this at the game, pal.
I’m very positive about this Wexford senior hurling team:
- We have the best young player in the country in Paul Morris;
- We look to have the full back position nailed down now with Andrew Shore;
- We have Rory Jacob firing upfront;
- We have two Faythe Harriers shining in the half back line;
- We have young players improving constantly and gaining valuable experience;
- We have loads of injured players to return.
Tony Kelly is the best young hurler in the country, pal
He’s not, mate. Paul Morris is. See my post above.

what was the starting team? (for wexford obviously)
Declan Hannon is the best young player in the country pal.
A quick snapshot of today’s game:
- Decent contest at the start with some good scores at both ends;
- Mark Fanning gifted them a goal. He basically caught a ball under his crossbar, sized up his options and obviously didn’t see an approaching forward coming in at angle to tackle him as he advanced out of the square. He took an age and then threw it up to clear only for the forward to tip it away before walking it into the goal.
- They led by 1-5 to 0-4 at one stage shortly after that;
- We levelled it up at 1-7 to 0-10 with another batch of good points (all 10 from play);
- David Redmond then scored a typical goal, powering onto a breaking ball from a puck-out, advancing past a couple of defenders and striking it low into the corner;
- We outscored them by 0-3 to 0-2 from then until half time with a Paul Morris '65 our only first half score from a placed ball;
- They had played with the breeze but there was an absolute torrential downpour with accompanying hailstones during half time and into the first 10 minutes of the second half;
- Jacob scored a brilliant goal in the first attack after half time, collecting a ball on the diagonal going from right to left before cracking a searing left sided strike back across the keeper into the top corner;
- Jacob and Morris continued to impress in the second half and picked off some good scores, along with Sinnott too;
- Our defence was well on top at this stage and we eased home fairly comfortably;
- We probably would have given them a more severe beating but for the worsening weather conditions but 2-21 to 1-12 was a satisfactory afternoon’s work, especially with 2-19 from play.
Wexford
Mark Fanning,
Bobby Kenny, Andrew Shore, Eoin Doyle,
James Tonks, Richie Kehoe, Lee Chin,
David Redmond (1-2), Harry Kehoe (0-1),
Ciaran O’Shaughnessy, Garrett Sinnott (0-3), Eoin Quigley (0-2),
Paul Morris (0-6, [0-1 '65, 0-1F), Rory Jacob (1-5), Padge Doran.
Subs:
PJ Nolan for Shaughnessy (1st Half);
Gary Moore (0-1) for Doran (Half Time);
Ciaran Kenny for Harry Kehoe (Blood, 2nd Half);
Eanna Martin (0-1) for Doyle (2nd Half);
Stephen Murphy for Nolan (2nd Half);
Shaun Murphy for Redmond (2nd Half);
- Shore had another very solid game at full back. Neil McManus gave him some trouble in the early exchanges but he became dominant as the game progressed;
- Richie Kehoe also performed well at centre back and the midfield duo combined to good effect;
- Our half forward line was mixed but Quigley worked hard and Sinnott got three good points though I usually feel he’s capable of more (languid style or something);
- Already mentioned Morris and Jacob but things didn’t come off for Shaughnessy or Doran - they’ll get other chances;
- We had Eoin Quigley back today from the start and Ciaran Kenny and PJ Nolan used from the bench so it’s a slight easing of our injury worries;
- We still have Rossiter and Moore to return in defence and Lyng and Guiney to give us more forward options;
- I think it’s the right decision to use Eanna Martin outfield. Harry Kehoe got split open and Chin moved to midfield with Kenny going wing back in the reshuffle. When Martin came on for Eoin Doyle, it was Kenny who went into the corner and Martin was wing back.
- If Archie Scallan is deemed to be too old then I feel that Niall Breen is the best goalkeeper in the county.
- I was impressed with our combination play and Paul Morris is a great talent - his movement is exceptional and refreshingly un-Wexford like.
Dublin in Bellefield, Enniscorthy, next Sunday.
Shore is a rare specimen in hurling, 6’5 or so and tremendously athletic…can’t think of another full back or even hurler of similar stature bar Michael Cussen…
I thought our victory last week might effectively consign Louth to relegation (along with Longford) but they responded by defeating Armagh away from home last night. Laois and Derry had victories over Galway and Longford respectively too so (bar Longford with 5 losses from 5) the division remains exceptionally tight - we’ll join Derry and Westmeath on top if we win tomorrow and we’ll be in the relegation mix if we lose:
Team / Played / Points
Derry / 5 / 7
Westmeath / 4 / 7
Laois / 5 / 5
Galway / 5 / 5
Louth / 5 / 5
Wexford / 4 / 5
Armagh / 5 / 4
Longford / 5 / 0
A decent enough start just after being negated by a westmeath goal. 1-1 to 0-2 after ten mins. We have a strong breeze this half
