Wexford deserve a home fixture for replay. And we deserve to have to travel
Deserves got nothing to do with it.
I was there.
In fairness to McAllister from his view it looked a stonewall penalty. Conor Ryan pushed the Wexford player in the back just after Bugler made the flick and from behind where the ref saw it from it looked like a blatent push as he wouldn’t have been able to see the hook
Fair enough but the elite refs are trained in never running directly behind the player in possession. McAllister should veer either left or right to try keep a lateral view of the play. He also had another inter-county referee doing umpire at that end who had a perfect view. The ref is always wired to an umpire at either end and a quick shout in the ear should be enough to alert him. It happens in football all the time but, in fairness, the game is slower so you can buy that extra second or two to make a decision.
Butt of the hurl into the eye, pal. His eye was swollen/closed by the end of normal time and his vision was impaired. Hence he didn’t play any part in extra time and it might explain a couple of uncharacteristic second half wides from him. McDonald accepted Jack Browne’s apology after the incident and I don’t believe it was intentional. My information comes from two extremely reliable sources.
Cathal Macallister’s ould fella is sound BTW, a diabolical ref tho in his day
No it’s not. Depending on circumstances, and this seems to be a perfect example, it’s very important to leave with a positive frame of mind and dispell any self doubt or regrets straight away. A night or two if self doubt or regret before the next training session would be worse than going on the piss for the night. As long as the message is positive and reminds the team of all the good things they did to get into the good position in the first place then it is very worthwhile.
In your opinion, are Wexford after catching the pack or are Clare over rated? Or has Davy made a balls of them with his over coaching?
Clare are just over rated look at the team’s they played to get to the final last year after being hammered in the first round in Munster. Dublin/Limerick really threw away a golden opportunity last year.
Ronan Fagan also alluded to this on the live commentary. Billy Byrne was saying it was unfair that Conor Mac doesn’t get the protection afforded to other intercounty forwards.
Had they been good enough they would have won it. Obviously they weren’t ready. Clare were ready though and fought hard and fair for their AI. No one threw anything away but I can see where you’re coming from.
Any report from Wexford Park today, chaps?
Leinster GAA have tweeted that the U21 hurling final will go ahead on Wednesday night now.

This makes Wexford Gaa Twitter seem rather foolish.
Replay next Sat at five in Wexford Park. Bandage can you confirm?
Bandage can’t confirm it but I can.
All are welcome in The 51 at 5pm on Wednesday evening before we journey northside for the U21 final.

So it’s on again now?
I wouldn’t play McDonald. We’ve won enough of these Leinster U21s. There’s a senior All Ireland to be won this year.
We’ve less cover for the backs so I don’t think I’d risk Ryan either.

I would join you pal but it’s likely to be postponed. What are the chances of the senior replay being televised.

Would have been odd to postpone you’d have thought.

For the 2nd year in a row I’ll be in London while Wexford contest an U21 Leinster final. All links welcomed if TG4 won’t work. As @Appendage has said, I’d rest McDonald (eye) and Ryan (rest) and use it to give Guiney back some confidence.
Tg4 player is excellent
