Why couldn’t they share?
Every second night even
Jim Bolger doesn’t like football.
Will ye beat Waterford @Mac
Hard luck lads @Mac @croppy_boy. @Bandage
If someone told us in March that we’d finish the season losing a Q Final by 4 points, beating Kilkenny twice, getting to a Leinster Final and getting to 1A then we’d have bitten their hand off. Can’t help feeling that it sounds better than it is though. Anyway, we’ll have that win in the park against KK. It may be the worst ever KK team to play in the championship in 30 odd years and we made hard work of it but fuck it, the record books won’t mention that.
Was a good season no doubt about it. Long wait now to try and improve again in the league!
Promoted from Division 4 as well…
Agree at start of yr would have been very happy with promotion/beating Kilkenny etc.
As Davy says “give us a small bit of time”
I’d put an asterisk beside that 4 points - Horgan handed ye a goal at the end, Waterford were a comfortable 7/8 points ahead of Wexford today
Have a read of the 2nd sentence of my post again
Like most mid tier counties. A couple of injuries can be the difference between being very competitive and just giving it a good shot.
We lack a few key players around the field. Our full back line is too weak. We really missed Damien Reck since he got injured. Andrew Shore and Paudie Foley would add a huge amount of strength to our full back line, albeit not much pace. As @Bandage pointed out on the other thread, Aidan Nolan is vital to our midfield but we’re really lacking quality midfielders apart from Lee Chin if he’s there. Up front, missing David Dunne & McGovern is huge. Proper pacy forwards who will win ball when played into space. We badly needed that today and the last day. As it was, we were reliant on winning bad 50/50 ball.
Positives from the season
- Liam Ryan was not the bombscare I thought he’d be at full back. No-one exposed his lack of pace too badly. Maybe the sweeper helps
- Matthew O’Hanlon has matured into a very natural leader and a cracking centre back
- Jack Guiney has found a work rate.
- Lee Chin has taken on the role we needed him to
Concerns
- Conor Mac had an awful season all things considered. Game plan may not suit him but that’s no excuse
- We never look like scoring a goal despite being able to commit so many players to attack
- 2 of our 6 backs are probably of the required standard
Anyway, nice to have something to look forward to. Davy might be expensive but in fairness to him he’s done some amount of shit in 1 season.
Yeah I did
Liam Ryan is not one bit slow and that’s a fact maaaaan.
Or something like that. BE
3 (three) times you mention Kilkenny. Obsessed…
At least that’s something for you to take out of this season Locke.
They won the Intermediate AI yesterday mate. Great year for KK it’s been.
They’ll all become Gaelic Football obsessives now.
Is Davy going?
Tragic news about Jack Pettit. RIP.
