Wexford GAA 2019

Paul Morris is also a backhanded freetaker – and possibly Wexford’s most reliable freetaker at present.

Paudie Foley takes a free off his right side and a sideline cut off his left side – same as Jackie Tyrrell.

Brendan with a right cut at Martin Storey and the 1996 boys here, as he sticks up for Davy Fitz.

Brendan looks like a serial killer.

which one?

god but Furlong is some pain in the hole.

Between the eyes, the shirt & tie and the waistcoat(?) you really wouldn’t know where to look if you met him.

The basement is the first place I’d look.

Good grief

Paul McLoughlin has stepped down. Unfortunately that’s probably the best thing that has happened the football team in the last 12 months.

Next appointment is huge. Needs a boost and energy back into it. McLoughlin just wasn’t up to it at all and all the fears before his appointment unfortunately rang true. Lots of excuses, but ultimately, it was all on him.

Really odd appointment by county board at the time.

Presume it was a cost saving measure but even that didn’t work out as planned

I wonder would Deely be tempted

It is huge. Football is nearly finished. The next appointment could seal the deal and let us all concentrate on hurling.

The options on the table were not great and it says enough that McLoughlin was the best candidate for the job at the time. There was no cost saving either involved, the other candidates would have had the same costs as McLoughlin. Hindsight would say that maybe another candidate wouldn’t have done any worse, but wouldn’t have been long term solutions either.

A lot of promises and support roles were left unfulfilled by McLoughlin which is the worst thing really. Very inexperienced line and back room. And lots of blame spread around.

Mentioned this before but the county board in announcing his appointment said that an experienced and impressive backroom would be announced in due course. It never materialised but the fact they raised it in the actual appointment statement was in itself a statement. It was essentially saying…we acknowledge this guy is a gamble and doesn’t have much of a track record but trust us as there’ll be a strong support team with him.

It’s a shambles wherever the truth lies. They shouldn’t have appointed him without being certain he had a proper backroom team in place. And he shouldn’t have bullshitted them about having one lined up if he had no expertise to call on.

Was there not an all-Ireland winning manager interested?

Think RTE are being a tad optimistic here

“Should Kilkenny beat Galway in Nowlan Park tomorrow, then only a draw in the Dublin-Galway game could deny Wexford a spot in the All-Ireland final, and even then their points difference is looking healthy”
