Wexford GAA 2020

He didnā€™t use a small hurl bro and was a back all his life bar that one day against Dublin.

Iā€™d have Darragh Ryan ahead of Liam Ryan at the moment too, but Liam Ryan is a great bit of stuff.

I didnā€™t dispute that, I was standing up for the outstanding Larry Oā€™Gorman.

Wexford were great for throwing a back into the forwards when I was growing up. At least I have a feeling they were, but I might have made that up. I donā€™t mean switching a back into the attack to try to salvage a game (like LarryO against Tipp in the drawn 2001 semi final). It was usually after a disappointing league campaign when the script would be torn up and the championship team would have a back converted to centre forward or full forward. There was Eamon Cleary at one stage. Was John Oā€™Connor (St Martins) reinvented as a centre forward for a while too? Iā€™m probably missing lads from that late 1980s / early into mid 1990s era? Likes of Darren Stamp, Doc Oā€™Connor, Willie Doran, Mossy Waters did stints in the forwards in more recent times when Iā€™d recognise them more as backs. Brief Nicky Lambert midfield to full forward experiment in 2001 too.

I think John O Connor may have played a few games at corner forward
Did Sean Flood play a few league games at corner forward as well

Shows the flexibility of Wexford hurlers I suppose

Absolutely ridiculous that Colm Kehoe isnā€™t there.

ā€˜Doc Oā€™Connorā€™ - what an absolutely ridiculous name.

Larry O is one of Wexfordā€™s GOATs.

Always annoyed me. Like saying ATM machine. FFS sake.

And then aul lads actually thought he was a doctor above in Dublin.

Yeah I think he was an engineer or a sales rep or something.

Yes x 1996.

I think Chin is actually lucky enough to be selected. Think the team shows weā€™ve had better defenders than attackers over the piece. Iā€™d have had Fenlon in midfield too.

Thereā€™s an argument to have 1 or even 2 more of the ā€˜96 forwards and you could make a case for Conor McDonald too given he made his debut in 2013 and has scored heavily since then.

50 years is too long, hard to compare lads who played in the 70s with current players. A best since the turn of the millennium would have interesting. Wonder would the aforementioned Doc make it?

Fenlon seems the glaring omission alright
Would agree that Larry O is a giant of the game

Heā€™d hardly have the brains to be an engineer would he?

Rory McCarthy unlucky not to make that team.

I think you might be right.

Did we try Richie Kehoe in the half forward line at one stage too?

Full forward Iā€™m nearly sure

Rod Guiney played half forward in sure in 93 replay Iā€™m sure

Awful day

Didnā€™t Doc play in the forwards at some point towards the end of his career?

Thomas Dunne played everywhere. He was decidedly average everywhere as well.

Good memory
DOC played in the half forward line Iā€™m sure for a bit

Tomas Dunne I would suspect played on every line (bar goalie) on the pitch and ā€œput himself aboutā€ on every line as well

Sack Walsh played full forward for a few league games one year as well

Im5nearly sure Paul Bridges played wing back and corner forward.

Tom Dempsey went from centre back at minor to corner at senior bar playing midfield in '93.
