Wexford GAA 2022

Cathaoirleach Comhraile Laighin Derek Kent from Taghmon/Camross.

I think it was Pat Teehan actually

Ya sure? Thought Kent took over from him.

I stand corrected!

He’s over the CDC I think.

Ah righty :+1:t2:

Defeat for Ferns. What way is the Wexford club championship next year? Or has that been decided yet?

Not decided yet

A 3 month lay off between Wexford Hurling Final and the first outing in the Leinster Club Championship doesn’t seem to be doing much to help the prospects of the Wexford standard bearers.

The 6-week hurling season in Wexford is akin to the clay court season in tennis.

Yes, the 12 week delay from county final was a huge issue for Ferns and the reason they lost.

Conversely, the 13 week delay for St Mullins left them time to prepare for their game against Ferns and helped them win.

Remember him playing corner forward for the footballers not too long ago. Probably a better goalie

He’s been decent for Shel’s but maybe it’s all about fitness and awareness? Pa Doyle was a decent goalie about 2 years ago I remember, should have played more for the county I reckon.

A year on from The Rapps losing after a 3 month lay off to the Laois champions, Ferns losing after a 3 month lay off to the Carlow champions might cause a bit of a re-think in the corridors of power as to how to make Wexford clubs more relevant on the provincial stage. The 6 week mini blitz format doesn’t seem to be working in that regard.

I look forward to to reading Brendan Furlong’s thoughts on it all the next time I call into visit my mother and flick through her back catalogue of New Ross Standards.

:joy:

Brendan’s view is that something has to change.

He’s a bit like Sinn Féin in that regard.

Change but no idea to what.

The Rapps and Ferns, I suspect were sated by winning a county championship and the edge was gone.

Are Wexford in danger of becoming like Offaly? Club results not good.
