Wexford GAA 2022

His ice hockey career coming back to haunt him.

Who was he playing his club football with until 10 years ago? Vols or Maudlintown? Last senior football game I remember him playing for Wexford was that defeat to Meath in Croke Park in 2013. He improved in leaps and bounds as a hurler when he focused on just one sport to be fair.

Yeah Maudlintown.

it was the soccer that ruined the knee

Maybe his employment situation hasnā€™t helped and heā€™s overtrained over the years. Was told thatā€™s 1 of the reasons Adrian ā€˜Pantherā€™ Flynn is so stiff these days apart from his age, during his playing days with the county footballers he did alot of unnecessary individual training, he was basically addicted to it.

Harry Kehoe doesnā€™t hold back about not been brought on vs Kilkenny last year/what he thinks of Davyā€™s set up on the hurling podcast. Great listening.

Could you give the bullet point summary please? Iā€™m pressed for time for the next few days.

Nothing that we didnā€™t know really.

  • Said when lads get cramp, they ainā€™t gonna be able to continue. Really swung home to him when likes of Chin/Mcdonald came back on after being on. Thought with his experience heā€™d be able to possibly swing game in our favour.
  • Davy has his 1-19, youā€™re in trouble if youā€™re out of it.
  • Darragh Egan was straight and truth with him and he appreciated it. Said that heā€™s gonna build a panel round the youngsters and make the u20ā€™s stronger for it.
  • Davy doesnā€™t do 15 on 15 ever in training. Itā€™s all close knit drills for handpassing and so on.

Was also interesting that he only broke into Davys team after a training camp in Portugal. With Covid it was practically impossible for new players to break in as Davy doesnā€™t trust anyone outside his 1-19. For all the criticism Harry has shipped over the years he always kept plugging away and he comes across as good and honest about things.

Few other things.

-Rates Chin as the best player he played with

  • Oā€™Hanlon is a nightmare to mark in training
  • Harry nearly lost his eye in a training incident in 2019, missed semi final v Tipp due to it
  • He become a Vegan in the last few years
  • Has alot of time for Colm Bonnar from Fitzgibbon days, spoke well about Liam Dunne too.

Yeah I was surprised with the training camp part. Jesus he was a decent u21/brilliant Iā€™d have said under Dunne. Davy is weird enough. Most enjoyable interview from the boys since Stamp, sharp and straight between the eyes.

*a cunt

I gave up on the Podcast after the Mick Jacob one last summer. It was awful. I must listen back on some of the other ones since then

Yeah, Galvin the only one to call him out properly on it though.

It was a token effort at calling Davy out though. He came across as an awful tool in the way he did it

For what itā€™s worth, Iā€™m convinced you need to be stoned to listen to the Gizzy Lyng one.
