The irony being that the most successful clubs in Dublin over the years were the ones with loads of immigrants from dowm the country.
Swings and roundabouts.

Spot on. There was always a big Wexford influence in Cuala and Crokes (including jerseys) as lots of Wexford people settled near the N11. Similarly lucan has a strong west of ireland and midland influence. Naasās emergence as a hurling power has been helped by a strong kilkenny presence.
Dublin GAA owes a huge debt to country people volunteering and driving it on. Id be delighted to see counties and clubs in the commuter belt reap the benefits of the current urban sprawl. Once the cunts donāt start beating us!
Any thoughts on referees in championship?
Heard the Anneās were rode last weekā¦
Adrian Fenlonās brother, Pat played for Crokes. I marked him in a tournament game years ago. The mother is from Myshall so thatās where all the hurling came from, presumably.
Paul Nolan of 1988 Leinster Hurling Final goalkeeping infamy played with Cuala for years too.
Darren and Johnny Mageeās recently-deceased mother, Stasia, was from Ramsgrange/Shielbaggan originally.
Dave Bernie played with cuala too and Murt Dempsey played in the 80s. I think Murt played with Wexford and Bernie was on the 1968 all Ireland team
Dave was heavily involved in Wexford GAA circles for a ling time. Lovely man and lovely family.
Heās lived in South Dublin for most of his life but youād see him as much in Wexford. Probably the most connected man in Wexford GAA
Definitely. Back in the day I donāt remember nim being on one committee but he was at every meeting, match or get together going
Money talks
Gusserane lost to Askamore last week, 1 point down in injury time and had the ball at midfield. As a shot was about to be taken, the ref blew the full time whistle, ball went over the bar. No score, one point win for Askamore. Could be the difference between them playing Oulart or Taghmon in a quarter final.
Shame.
Who was reffing
interesting final round of games in atrocious weather.
Buffers Alley live to fight another day, beating Taghmon by 2. Thats also enough for them to finish third in the group. As it stands, I make it that Blackwater have a one point scoring advantage over St James and are squeeking through in 4th. Looks like a final 5 or 6 minutes with no score cost them.
Bunclody drew with Tara Rocks, so miss out on top spot, with Askamore beating Fethard scoring 4 goals in the process.
Quarter finals I make it are
Oulart v Gusserane,
Taghmon v Fethard,
Alley v Bunclody,
Blackwater v Askamore.
Adamstown beat Gusserane in their last game to go into a relegation match with Ballygarret on a good note.
Ballygarrett arenāt great, Iād back Adamstown.
yeah as I said to you earlier this week, they were pinning their hopes on Buffers Alley losing rather than beating St Jamesā, which is an awful way to go into a game. Adamstown had a good win, itāll stand to them.
Jamesā lose out by 4 points I thinkā¦oh well
Askamore always seem to get the handy quarter-final draw. Reached a semi-final last year whilst probably not being a top 4 team. Youād expect them to beat Blackwater too.
We finished off Brian Cody. Went to Nowlan Park and walked all over the bastards.
