I know he left of his own accord & seemingly does hold that viewâŚbut his Ballygunner style didnât suit Wexfordâs psyche anyway.
Heâd 4 years done down between u20 and Seniors it must be remembered, also the set up needed a refresh after this year.
I never listen to OTB anymore but happened to be in the car when Liam Og was on. Decent interview in a dull, Wexford way. I think Covid definitely screwed them over more than anyone, they were on such a high even after blowing up in the 2019 AISF. Maybe they could have driven on in normal circumstances but that wasnât to be.
They werenât fully used to playing games in blitzes in 2020 and by the the time crowdâs were back in 22 Davy was gone and nobody in Wexford really cared anymore. Yet at the same time they are the only county who could make an occasion of the Leinster final.
Youâd have to have great respect and an even greater sympathy for Liam Griffin all the same.
And Iâd say such utterings gall Limerick folk even more from 96.

Franks is clever out, he knew he was finished with Wexford. What he tried to implement in Wexford didnât work. He has 2 years intercounty coaching experience and he moves onto the next job.
Good point. Has Keith ever worked with these new guys in the backroom team before. I suspect he hasnt so how does he know they will get on etcâŚ
I feel its a big year for Rossitor, not getting out of Leinster next year and it will be his last. I hope he has a full deck to choose from come championship.

I donât think he has & I think a lot of the S&C/support roles have new folk involved too. Thereâs not much continuity at all really, except for Keith. I think @binkybarnes, who knows his stick hurling, says OâBrien is more a manager & not a great coach. Keegan is a generalist type, I donât really know who would be doing the actual training sessions & devising game plans, doing opposition analysis etc. That said, I think Wexford would hammer Ballygunner.
Shane is not a top level coach. For what its worth Iâve seen quite a bit if Wexford at Dev squad level over the last few years and have noted a marked improvement. I would guess itâs down to Niall Williams. I am predicting some underage success for Wexford in the next couple of years.

Rossiter would probably know SOB when he managed OTB to an intermediate county 3/4 years back. Iâd imagine he wouldnât have known Keegan. The statement did say a âhead coachâ was still to be appointed so Iâd imagine the groundwork is done there.
On another note Wexfords new S+C coach was seemingly on First Dates during the week.
That would be ideal to keep things ticking over. I think there was some optimism about the performance of the U15âs in one of those summer tournaments alright. Wexford have a lovely tradition of producing a half decent underage team every 10-12 years to stave off complete inadequacy. The dominant run in Leinster U21 from 2013-2015 was much needed after a rough period for most of the 00âs, bar a couple of Leinster U21 titles in 2001/02. The couple of provincial U21 titles in 1996/97â kept the show on the road after a lean period at underage following a run to an AI minor final in 1985 and two Leinster U21âs in 1986/87. These sporadic bouts of success are usually spread out enough that it doesnât lend itself to a golden period at senior. Bar 1996 obviously.

As far as I know this year u16s got to the AI semi final, u15 won All Ireland shield which is basically finishing 5th overall, u14 is split between Leinster and Munster, we lost to Kilkenny after a last minute goal and they won the Leinster competition, think the 14s are meant to be decent, think ourselves and Kilkenny performed well against the Munster counties.

Good counsel and enniscorthy cbs both beat kieranâs in the Leinster junior this year.
That would unthinkable for enniscorthy to beat kieranâs in hurling.

Oylegate and Monageer contested the u16 final this year, Iâd imagine theyâre backboning that Enniscorthy CBS team.

Oh big time. Usually Enniscorthy CBS wouldâve competed in the Leinster B competitions and wouldnât even have crossed paths with Kieranâs.
Pretty bleak outlook for Wexford here. Offaly will move ahead of them in Leinster next year.
Eoin Ryan, Liam Ryan, Charlie McGuckian, Shane Reck, Damien Reck, Cathal Dunbar, Rory O Connor. I believe there have been departures from their backroom team too.
If Lee Chin gets injured they are in serious trouble. He has kept them competitive on his own the last few years.
