I dropped Mrs Mac and the 2 elder Macs to the gate of Wexford Park while I took Baby Mac off to see the fishing boats on the quays, soak up some Opera atmosphere and for a long play in Min Ryan Park. I couldnât fathom how they could play a game there with the wind like it was. Itâs bad enough on a good day. I think the weather became a convenient excuse for them. Martins would have won handily without a puff of wind in my opinion.
Some might but theyâd have been wrong yesterday.
Shels had plenty of chances in the last 10 mins to take it too ET at least, Gorey were poor albeit crippled with injuries, 2 points from play speaks volumes.
Lock this thread.
Shels were chasing the game because they were so far behind. Itâs way order pick off the points when the clock is against you. Despite the 7 minutes injury time.
Gorey were pathetic all through but it was a massive advantage for the martins to have the wind in the first half.
Ballyhogue got caught similarly in the junior. OLI built up a big lead and couldnât be reeled in.
Playing against that wind in the first half yesterday would have been the wrong call. It wasnât forecast to drop.
The referee will probably get rewarded with the senior final for missing that.
DJ did it in Carlow v Laois in approx â95 and got blown for it it.
I see St James are leading Bunclody by a point early in second half. The Fethard/Bunclody saga has obviously ended.
Sounded like Fethard were rightly stitched up.
Bunclody beaten by 4. Thatâs subject presumably to any miscounting.
Thank god for that.
Rathnure wonât have it all their own way against St James Iâd say. Brought cloughbawn to extra time in last years final.
And where are Cloughbawn now?
A crowd of footballers against hurling royalty⌠Only ends one wayâŚ
Youâd think rathnure should win but the heavier pitches mean rathnure wonât be putting up those big scores they did earlier in the year.
Ramsgrange wonât mind the physicality either
That was a desperate poor senior final today. Even spratt on the radio was giving out about all the frees. Naas will fancy themselves to beat martins Iâd say
Looked awful on tv. Like a junior b game compared to Munster game.
Martins are much better than what they played. How long is Barry home for? And what was the Anneâs keeper doing for the goal??
Rathnure straight back up. Looked like they would win by a cricket score going 6 points to 0 up after 10 minutes. Still led by 9 at half time before Ramsgrange launched a strong comeback. they needed a goal though to make it nervy for rathnure⌠Rory Higgins and the 2 redmonds had their shooting boots on.
They are playing a dublin team in leinster next week which could be tricky as oulart found out a couple of years ago
I think Fethard need to dig in and have this championship replayed.
Rory Higgins was excellent yesterday, a great display of on the run shooting.
We took too long to settle, needed to be more combative from the off, chasing the game after 6 mins and were kept at arms length thereafter.
What dublin team are rathnure playing? Just says dublin on fixtures which is strange
Dublin is a basket case due to gradings and an appeal currently ongoing.
As Dublin call their seconday competition âSenior 2â they cant represent the county in the intermediate championship.
To decide who represents Dublin in the intermediate championship there is a playoff between the Senior 3 winners and intermediate winners. Convoluted I know. Currently there are appeals going to CCCC over the scoreline in the Senior 3 semi final so that final has been postponed twice.
Commercials won the intermediate and now will likely represent Dublin. Diarmuid O Dualaing would be their best player. They won the junior a few years ago and beat the KK champions in Leinster. However I would fancy the 13th best team in Wexford to beat the 31st best team in Dublin
Horeswood beat commercials in the 2022 Leinster junior final, commercials had beaten Blacks and Whites from KK in the semi final.
Thatâs complicated. Why have so many counties changed from the plain old senior, intermidiate and junior. Seems to be more fashionable to be senior b than intermediate.
