Wexford GAA 2024

It’s impressive that Barry O’ Connor managed to retain his hurling skills after so many years in Australia. Said on South-East that it was his first year back hurling senior since 2018. He would’ve played a few football games during the intervening period. Definitely the two best teams of the 2024 championship in the final.

Nice local derby final.

Winning the toss today was the same as winning the game.

Farcical conditions.

Barry was effective. He is some athlete.

Did he quit Aussie Rules?

Not pro anymore. Not sure what the plan is but is going back. Hopefully before Sunday week.

Any sign of a resolution to the bunclody fethard saga? The real losers in this will be rathnure because they will be strong favourites to win the co final and may lose out on representing wexford in leinster.

Independent CCCC meeting on Wednesday night, some heavy hitters involved.

I dont know why they held the championship at all this year, they should have just crowned Rathnure as winners.

How about:

Rathnure play both teams separately - if they win both then fuck the appeal.

what about the other team?

They’ve already hammered both in the group to be fair. I don’t think they met the crack St James’ outfit though

The toss didn’t mean you’d the wind for the whole game

Soz. The 3 of them so. That’s what I meant.

No but defending a big lead is easier than reeling it in.

Bhoys, I saw the Wexford GAA social media post of the Rathnure goal from the weekend when their player won the throw-in at the start of the game & ran the length of the field to goal.

That should have been a free to the Alley. You can’t just gather the ball & then throw it 10 yards in front of you to escape tacklers & run onto it again. Who did he think he was…Henry Shefflington of circa 2009? He used to be a divil for that. Oh I’m being bottled up & I’ve taken my steps, I’ll just fling the ball forward underarm & regain possession.

No.

Not allowed.

No.

Not having it.

No.

Was Jack Cushe injured? Surprised to see Darragh Hughes in the Gorey goal.

Injured in warm up apparently

Yeah hurt his back, the Gorey management were signalling mad not to start the game, didn’t know what was going on until the substitution about 2 mins in, Hughes actually started in the forwards.

Some people would disagree with that, if you’ve the stronger bench and fitter it can tell even more with the wind in the 2nd half.
