No they won’t. Wexford are competing very well in the individual battles but Galway are way more spatially aware in counteracting the sweeper.

Wexford going man-on-man will help them in this game. Bar Conor Cooney, nobody is consistently getting the better of his immediate opponent for Galway.

Very little ball in around the goal from either side, you’d feel that Galway more likely to get a goal to finish us off if they throw a few in there, especially with Conor Cooney so threatening.
Joe Canning with 6 frees and otherwise you wouldn’t know he’s on the pitch.
Galway could pull away very easily hammer us.
Shane Murphy looks very nervous, needs to actually find someone with those balls out. Not sitting all over his keeper would be good too.

Galway haven’t given Wexford a sniff of a goal. Wexford will have to score at least one goal.

In terms of firepower, Galway have shown very little bar Conor Cooney.

None of their other forwards are doing much. But they’re still three points up.

I don’t think Wexford are gone yet though. They’re playing into the Galway fans on Hill 16 now.

A proper intercounty full/corner back should be perfectly capable of playing as the last man. This system is built on fear and a lack of belief and confidence. It masks deficiencies that should be worked on by management well before a team takes the field for championship.
