Dublin’s senior hurlers have major injury woes ahead of Saturday night’s Leinster SHC against Wexford in Wexford Park (7pm).
Danny Sutcliffe, one of Dublin’s best players in this year’s league, has been ruled out following the hand injury he suffered in the opening round of the club championship.
Dublin’s worries do not end there as goalkeeper Gary Maguire continues to make his way back after suffering a thumb injury while there is also concerns over the fitness of Liam Rushe (hamstring) and David Treacy (quad muscle).
Dublin U21 and senior Chris Crummey is also an injury worry after picking up an injury for the U21s in their Leinster championship victory over Laois.
I wish Tony Doran was alive to see his beloved Wexford beat the Jacks in Croke Park before a UK audience tweeting about the crazy and wacky game of Red Hurley
At Boolavogue, as the sun was setting
O’er the bright May meadows of Shelmalier,
A rebel hand set the heather blazing
And brought the neighbours from far and near.
Then Father Murphy, from old Kilcormack,
Spurred up the rocks with a warning cry;
“Arm! Arm!” he cried, “For I’ve come to lead you,
For Ireland’s freedom we fight or die.”
I really didn’t see Dublin losing this, they were the second best team in Ireland last year. The injuries might swing it towards Wexford though.
If Rushe is gone as well as Sutcliffe then I would fancy Wexford.
If Rushe is gone as well as Sutcliffe Dublin haven’t a hope.

Has the game been moved to Croke park now?
yes as a mark of respect for Tony Doran
Haven’t a hope? Wexford are a young division 1b team that are at the start of their development. Dunne has done well but Dublin are stronger, more experienced and very hard to beat. Even without Sutcliffe and Rushe, I’d suspect Dublin still have the better hurlers man for man. Think they’ll win by 3-4.
Dublin have the edge in experience certainly but I liked the look of what Wexford are trying to do the couple of times I’ve seen them recently.
There’s many twists left in this championship and I think this weekend may well provide one of them.
Wexford to triumph.
Scumpot said he’d post the team that will start up here today.
Most teams would struggle without their two best players (ok maybe keaney but those are their top 3 IMO). More so Rushe than Sutcliffe, I would say if he is missing Dublin are in trouble. On the basis that Wexford drew with them last year and appear to have improved since, I would give Wexford the nod if those two are missing.
Boland is doubtful as well apparently.
where did I say that you rank bastard??.. I wouldn’t tell you the time…
