Unless we can decarbonise the oceans footering about with a few thousand coal stations is a bit of a cod, a drop in the ocean so to speak
TBF to the Indians they have an absolute fraction of the emissions per head of population vs the likes of the US
Is abject poverty for the vast majority of the population the solution.
The Greens are sure trying
& Ireland.
isnt there some stat where people in Meath produce more carbon than the population of Liberia
The Greens in India?
Nuclear lads for the love of Jesus
A nuclear power plant that will take 10 years to build isn’t the answer for Ireland
More windmills and burning gas it is so. But not Irish gas obviously. That would be bad for the environment
power cuts for all, don’t fret though, all this greens nonsense will stop once FF & FG votes start getting hit because of power cuts.
Case and point, a long decommissioned gas power point in East Cork is being spun back up because the energy situation is borderline crisis point
We should import peat to save us using the stuff already here
We export peat
whats the alternative to reducing Carbon? our Children to suffer?
this is what we are up against
would my child not suffer if there was no heating in the house this winter, and no coal or turf to burn because of the greens
i doubt that there will be no heating in the winter but we will see, however, compared to what is down the road a few days with no heating isnt a catastrophe
because the sensible people in the room are re opening power plants and seeing what is coming down the road immediately. A cold snap in December might change your mind
We can and should reduce Carbon, but nonsense like banning gas exploration, while importing gas because we need it to the balance the increase in renewables, doesn’t help anyone now does it?
That’s a transfer of wealth from Ireland to Scotland and a dangerous increasing reliance on imports for our electricity and heat, leaving us at the whims of our increasingly erratic neighbours. All for no reason other than Eamonn Ryan wants to be seen to do something but it sure as fuck isn’t actually reducing our carbon emissions
