What Song would you want played at your Funeral?

Been thinking about this recently. I want Jeff Buckley-Hallelujah.

Aon Focail Eile - Richie Kavanagh

You never mentioned this to me.

I settled on The End by The Doors years ago and won’t be changing it. Great song, fitting too.

Ring Ring.

I don’t really know what with not being that religious a person and having never thought about it in any great detail. I like the sentiments of You’ll Never Walk Alone. I also really like Some Slender Rest by Two Gallants or maybe Twilight by Elliott Smith. Alternatively, I’d consider I Don’t Fell Like Dancin’ by The Scissor Sisters.

Highway to Hell-ACDC

Lads, it’s really hit and miss if this whole idea of songs at your funeral works or not. God rest him but a friend of mine died over 10 years ago and a Radiohead song was played live by friends of his. It was beautiful and moving.

Last year I was at a funeral of Mrs. Lockes’ aunt. They played “come on Eileen” as that was her name. It was good at the start until the CD started to slip and the music came to an abrupt end. It was, IMO, a shite way to end a lovely ceremony for her.

Point is it’s hit and miss and I know I was joking about it earlier I don’t think I would have a song at my funeral. Just leave it to church songs

I am The Resurrection would be a good one. I think I’ll make up my funeral playlist when I get home

Was at a funeral for someone who died tragically recently and they played Purple Rain by Prince as the coffin was being carried out. Heard the song a couple of times since and it always reminds me of the funeral. Not the nicest thing in the world!

My own choice would be Run by Snow Patrol - the live version if possible.

Think I’m with Locke on this one. Don’t think I’d have a song played. Still I’d expect a big crowd though and there could be a crowd of mourners outside the church so I could do with a big rousing anthem that they could all sing along to. Total Eclipse of the Heart or something. Not particularly fitting but it does have epic parts to it.

Snow Patrol-Run

It’s some months since I last posted and I’d now go for Glasgow Celtic Champions. To the tune of Yankee Doodle Dandy.

Here come the good times. (Dunno who sings it)

Crash test dummies hmmm hmmm hmmm. love that song. Id love an oasis song to be played but I doubt the priest would be too happy with rock n roll played in a church!

That was A-House, I think.

I can’t imagine having a song. Maybe an instrumental.
Yann Tiersen or Ennio Morriconne maybe. Make it feel like a movie. That’d be pretty cool.
