…The likely lads?
They are known as AFC Wimbledon now.
When the franchise moved to Milton Keynes all the other 91 league clubs instigated a boycott, the new MK Dons bequeathed the old Wimbledon FC’s history to the nascent AFC Wimbledon and the boycott was called off.
It’s a similar sort of thing to what happened when the Cleveland Browns became the Baltimore Ravens for a while.

So what about the MK Dons club?
They are basically nobodies with no history?

I believe their catchment area is a large industrial estate.
and a large series of fucking roundabouts
Nearly as many as Galway.
I remember them well. Had many great days in Selhurst Park. They had a great season in 96/97 with a good team coming 8 in the league and had a great cup run with Robbie Earle header knocking favourite Man Utd out before getting beaten at Highbury in semi final. Chelsea fans gave Kenny Cunningham huge stick that day for being Oirish.
Saw Beckham score from the half way line too but highlight was probably seeing Newcastle under Keegan play them, great team of Beardsley, Ferdinand, Asprilla, Ginola, Shearer. Gillespie…they played some exciting football.
Was at the Wimbledon team Christmas party in 1996… Fuckin mental…No photos them days thank fuck! Good days.
They are above MK Dons for the first time in their history.
