Where will you be spending Christmas Day?

This year, we’re taking the mother in law down to Sydney to my nieces place for Christmas lunch. She’s married to a Greek family (you don’t just marry the son, you marry the whole country from what I can see). So after my traditional Christmas morning breakfast of kippers and the young fella opening a load of football related presents (apparently he has three pairs pf boots, two jerseys, runners, tracksuits and various Four Four Two etc annuals this year from us and relatives) a drive to Sydney (traffic in Sydney on Christmas morning can be pretty chaotic, hopefully we won’t be in the car too long) for no doubt a many and varied menu of delicious Greek food (there are rumours of a pig on a spit). Then back up home where I can finally have a drink or fourteen on the veranda with Mrs Fitzy. Probably no turkey this christmas . All the neighbours over for a barbeque on Sunday.
What plans do you all have for the big day?

The inlaws…

Turkey and the works.

This is the last xmas spent away before we start celebrating it at home from next year on.

At home with savage amounts of drink and food. Nutrbullets have revolutionised me this year. There is no such thing as a hangover if you are a nutribrother

In krakow. Just the family. Horrible carp tomorrow night and turkey etc on 25th.

Im staying with the in laws/ von trapp family. Ill be doing the cooking so i can have some peace when they go on their 4 hour christmas day walk from monkstown to dalkey via the 40 foot

Having my family over in the morning for breakfast, then cooking the full turkey dinner for ourselves, before going to my parents house in the evening. Looking forward to it.

Up to Mordor then on Stephens Day.

How is herself Art?

We’re doing Christmas in our place for the first time with her family coming over, 8 adults and 5 children in total. Turkey, ham the works. It’s going to be carnage but fuck it that’ll be us done for a few years

Cooking gives you free reign to do whatever the fuck you want for the rest of the day too

Would any of ye tip away at the gargle on Christmas Day? I seem to be one of the few of my chums who have a good few. I’d go through a few beers and a couple of bottles of wine ovr the course of the day.

No. Hate drinking in the house.

I’ll be spending Christmas Day in Leitrim with 5 other adults, 3 of whom are over the age of 80. Still good craic though.

I’d tip away at the drink but never anything outrageous.

same as that. bit of wine with the dinner, a couple of bottles of beer* after in the evening depending how things were going

*not disclosing the beer for fear of distracting from the thread

Cork. 11 adults and a 3 month old… The other two adults and 4 kids are going to Dublin this year so its just the 11 of us… Turkey, ham and spiced beef… I’ve a bag of olives, hummus, chorizo, cheese, pesto, vine leaves, sundrieds and a nice loaf for crimbo eve…unreal… The cunts can’t play 45 tho so I’ve to make out a quiz.

Yeah I’d probably have the first beer around 2 bells and have 1 or 2 more and a number of glasses of wine over the course of the next 10 or 11 hours. It’s generally like bullets off Superman though with the amount of food I eat.

That’s the thing, you are eating so much during the day that you can drink away a decent amount without it having any real effect.

I rarely drink Christmas day… It’s solely a day of food for me… Might have a few G&T that night if my stomach allows it.

It will be mental. Inlaws from about 9. Down to the beach for the christmas swim at about 11. Thats great craic and half the town will be there. Back to the folks and I have been entrusted with the spuds. The whole family will be there, 15 adults and 4 kids. Can’t beat it.
