The first one you could manage to ignore somewhat. The second one would be an unmitigated disaster for the country. There would be no recovering from the trauma of whatever tidal wave of emotion would be adjudged to have swept over the country if we won. Can you even imagine turning up for work the next day to hear everyone talking about it? Doesn’t bear even contemplating.

the more i think about the casual rugby fan (important to distinguish between these and people who played or play the game for most of their lives and are tough as nails for doing so) the more i realise they represent everything wrong with this country…people so empty in their existence they have to cling to a sport they haven’t a clue about just to feel the need to belong to something for the Monday morning coffee discussion in work …

There is certainly a path for Ireland to make a World Cup final. I couldn’t see them winning it though. Capitulation in QF v NZ or in SF v Australia/England are most likely.

Yeh the Munster bandwagon would reck heads but our country is different IMO, esp in a wc. I’d be freaked with kk or chip winning the ai alright
