Anyone here done it? I am looking to raise some money and this is something that tempts me greatly as I fancy myself as an awkward southpaw. Most of the events I have seen seem to have designated charity assigned to them. Anyone know of good place to do it in the Dublin/Fingal area where charity isn’t assigned?
Buddy of mine runs these in Dublin. Check your PMs.
Yeah - did one as a fundraiser for the GAA club in November. Good craic and trained twice a week for 6/7 weeks leading up to it. Did it with White Collar Boxing run by ex-pro Cathal O’Grady and was slickly run. The only cons I would have was the lack of sparring time and thus it was tricky to get the right match ups for on the night. Training was out in the National Stadium on South Circular Road.
Pascal Collins (Roddy’s brother) does one around Blanchardstown area where anyone can join up - not sure how regularly they host the events.
I’ve spectated at a few and the best one I was at was where the fighters each picked their own charity, and then had to raise €500 for that cause, but then it was a winner takes all fight, so your charity either ended up with nothing or 1k. Brought a nice edge to proceedings.
2-0-0 in the ring.
Great training…no idea where to do it in Fingal.
Did it for GAA club, 20k raised all told between 3 clubs I believe.
