Who is your counties greatest ever?

I won’t ask for one definitive, as sport, music, the arts and or politics all probably deserve separate recognition. But feel free to just throw out one if you want.

So, who for you is your counties greatest person. I would ask for born and bred please, no plastic paddies etc will count.

Richard Harris was a great man and tops my list of Limerick people . Ciaran Carey and Paul O Connell would top the sporting category.

Ciaran Carey - FFS

In my own humble opinion…

Hurling: Damien Fitzhenry
Gaelic Football: Mattie Forde
Soccer: Kevin Doyle
Rugby: Gordon Darcy
Singer: Pierce Turner
Writer: John Banville

Ciaran scored the greatest point in gaa history. He deserves all the accolades rte refuse to give him.

WUM surely!

He was largely anonymous in the same game in question. Limerick were kept afloat by Gary Kirby for the majority of that game.

You could have at least went for Blondey or Mackey or someone with a Celtic cross

Sure all Gary Kirby did was take frees with his fragile hands.

The greatest point in GAA History?!

I was never a huge fan of Kirby but he was excellent that day to his credit. Himself and Brian Lohan were the best two players on the pitch by a distance that day

Michael Caraher.

conor murray. limerick born and bred.

What has what he did or didn’t do previous to the point got anything to do with the score itself.

I wouldn’t expect a Clare man to understand a player of such style and panache.
Stick to your mullockers like Lohan the sisters.

napper tandy

napper tandy

would jason sherlock not be dublins greatest?

Because people harp back to that point as a measure of how great he was. It was a fine score but it doesn’t take away from the fact that the game for the most part passed him by. Some people would have you believe that he singled handedly beat clare on his own that day

I’ve never heard anyone say that.

It was a great point alright Puke, well said.

He did, while he drank pints with the other :pint: :pint: :pint:

Ciaran Careys Hurling Arm
