not a massive fan of him but Shefflin is the best i ever seen… talk about knowing where the ball is going to drop and for the way he runs off the play…he never seems to beat a player to get a score…always in space on his own taping it over…sign of a class player…
Eanna Ryan or Iggy Clarke. Nicholas English, dj and Henry, and through gritted teeth, tommy Walsh. John Mullane, Paul Flynn. I really rate Shane Dooley as well.
Nah,
He was a complete hurler. You are judging him on a few clips you saw on TV.

saw him play in the flesh both side of atlantic pal…
So did I, in fact I actually played with him over in Boston.
PJ Cuddy
he was immense in ´92 at corner back against kilkeny when the cats bet them…has to be one of the greatest displays on a losing team in a final ever along with padraig kelly of galway the year after i think it was.
corcoran gave up after the semi final in ´01 because offaly didn´t want to land ball down on top of him !!.. only a cork man would think like that…
he was too slow and too clean to be a top class football defender …
He gave up in 2001 but he came back in 2004 to torment teams for another three years at full forward! He played the most of his football for Cork in the full back line.He played some great games for Cork in the half back line whenever he was played there.
John Fitzgibbon, Tomas Mulcahy and Kevin Hennessy were great but the most skillful and most dangerous Cork forward in the late 80’s and early 90’s was Tony O’Sullivan.
Tony O Sullivan
Tommy Dunne
Seanie McMahon
Jamesie O Connor
Eoin Kelly
Ken McGrath
All hurling greats, but DJ is No1.
Henry Shefflin was the best hurler I have seen …by far
Liam Dunne
Eoin Kelly (tipp) for about two years was as good as I’ve seen. Tommy Walsh was also outstanding for about 5 years consistently. I believe Tommy Walsh in his prime was better than Shefflin in his prime.
which 2 years WRT Kelly?
Ah I don’t have any figures or anything to hand but about 04/05/06 would have been his best years. He used to be a one man forward line
DJ Carey
So?
Doesn’t matter what type o player he was, this is about a persons favorite player. Corcoran, Teddy Mac, John Fenton, Pat Hartnett, Jogn Fitz, Jim Cash, Cathal Casey, Barry Egan, Duirmuid Sully and Joe Deanery were all my favorite players. They were not always the most talented, but I just loved watched them for many different reasons. Horgan, Kearney and Harnedy are the same now.
If I had to go for someone it would be John Fitzgibbon. The laid back style, the celebration, the importance of his goals, Schillaci, what a nickname. Perfect.

Fairly sure it’s about the best you’ve seen Kev, not your favourite. Pat Hartnett by the way? No need to take the piss that much.
I would go for Brian Lohan, while there have probably been better in terms of all round ability or more skillful he was just an immense player. I have yet to see another full back who lifted the crowd as much as him. He would set the tone and the team would lift around him. A joy to watch in full flow
A toss up between Henry Shefflin and Tommy Walsh for me.
Why would you say Flynn and Mullane through gritted teeth? John Mullane was the most exciting hurler of the last decade.
