Y does nearly everyone on this site hate u2? jesus whats wrong with ye!? The more I talk to people who hate em the more I realise the reason why they dislike em so much is cos of Bono. Yeah he is a bit of a plonker but hate Bono then and not u2. There amazing ambassadors to this country
I hate that lead singer guy.
Plus I hate their hypocrisy on not paying taxes but preaching to us about how to live.
Plus I hate their music, do I do like most stuff up to Pop.
yeah everyone hates u2 cos of Bono!
I despise Bono. Letting on he was Pavarotti’s best mate when he died. No you weren’t.
Beautiful Day is another reason to hate them. One of the worst, laziest, sell out songs ever written.
Their early stuff is decent and they were credible. Without them the Irish rock music scene would be non existant on the world stage.
I’m indifferent to them. Have a few of their albums, have listened to some of the others I don’t own and some I’ve never listened to at all.
Bono…
whoever threw the bottle at the down in the Showboat in Waterford was spot on
What about their plans to expand The Clarence so that the rich can get richer?
There are people dying in Africa don’t you know. Think it was Bono who let us know about this.
Again - this is all irrelevant to their music which, at the moment, is utter shite.

I concur with all the above
I actually only realised the other day that I don’t have a single U2 song on my ipod. Happy enough about it too.
Bono is a prick, with his platform boots. Just accept your a runt.

Neither do I. I have Miss Sarajevo by Passengers which, in fairness, is utterly brilliant but no U2.
yeah that confirms it…people hate em cos of Bono
Bono is a prat and is as vain as fcuk, which is funny given he’s an ugly chap. Wearing sunglasses indoors is gay aswell, oh yeah I forgot Bono has a medical condition in his eye… Pontificates a bit too much for my liking aswell, I don’t think bands should be flexing their muscles with regard to planning permission for hotels if they want any credibility.
Their current music is absolute gash if you ask me, that’s not to say they weren’t good once but they’ve dumbed down enormously, it’s all easy listening nowadays. I loved Boy, War, The Joshua Tree and even large parts of Achtung Baby and Zooropa. After that they’ve churned out some right dogs I feel, Pop was pedestrian, All That You Can’t Leave Behind was a sort of Corrs effort. A total sellout. I stopped listening after that.
Not too passionate about them either way. Some decent songs. Bono is an idiot and a shortarse. If i ever met him i’d probably give him a condition called blackeye.
Rock made a good point once (for a change) where he said that Pop was the last album where U2 appeared to make the music that they wanted to.
Discotheque is definitely one of their most underrated songs. One is probably the most overrated song ever (after Wish You Were Here of course!).
Agree with the stuff above about Bono being a dick in relation to his tax affairs and the Clarence Hotel (which will look terrible) etc. As far as the music goes, U2 were unreal in their day. Yeah their stuff now isn’t great but you can hardly expect them to be coming up with classics after 28 years. Was Paul McCartney producing classics in 1991, for example?
I’d consider all their albums up to and including Zooropa as 8/10 minimum and even after that they still came came up with some excellent stuff. The Edge is one of the greatest guitarists ever. Unrivalled live shows also.
is that similar to pinkeye…
If pinkeye can be administered with a fist, then yes.
Don’t particularly mind them. Music wise they are certainly shit now. Thought Pop was a very good album myself and their music had a bit of depth and point to it then. As regards Bono think he can speak well and be persuasive but agree there are certain issues where he appears a bit hypocritical. Having said that just because you are rich shouldn’t menan that you can’t have a said on poverty.
Farmer do you actually give a shit whether Irish music is credible on the world stage or not? For whatever reason think the current crop of Irish bands are very ordinary.
Bono is a piece of shit. Does anyone watch South Park?
