Ladies, Gentlemen & TFK.com Forum Members
It gives WhyOhWhy great pleasure to announce the triumphant return to the thefreekick.com online forum of the legendary WhyohWhy.
It has been approximately 1 year since WhyOhWhy last graced the board with insightful, witty, abusive and more-often-than-not pointless postings!! WhyOhWhy did drop in once or twice when online outside of work to see how the forum was going, it was hard for WhyOhWhy not to log on and post some inane comment but WhyOhWhy felt it wouldnt be fair to the regulars!!!
Alas, unlike WhyOhWhys last place of enjoyment, WhyOhWhys current employer has a very harsh and extremely inflexible Internet policy and TFK.com was blocked as a sports website (kudos TFK.com, kudos), hence WhyOhWhy had to regretfully announce semi-retirement on the 25th of October 2006. But fear not, WhyOhWhy has procured a lap-dancer (laptop) and broadband connection and now returns full-time!!!
WhyOhWhy was disappointed to learn that various rumours were not floated around speculating about the real reason for WhyOhWhys semi-retirement.
So What has WhyOhWhy missed?
Who is also AWOL from the early days of the TFK.com?
Is the infantile Home & Away still a hot topic?
What about the online resident poet/abuser (Ball Ox???), is he still around?
What about the Legal Eagle, Farmer, Sticky?
Have any birds dared post on a regular basis? Were their posts knowledgeable?
Whats the current controversial debate?
Who the fook are the 170 members (is it actually 170)?
WhyOhWhy sees that the commercial world has invaded a once proud and noble online forum with advertising and merchandising now pervading the site, alas tis but a mirror of the real sporting world, WhyOhWhy reckons.
Anyway, it was a good sport watching year for WhyOhWhy, watching Kerry winning their 35th Senior All-Ireland football title, and in the process beating the Dubs and Cork (twice) was of course the stand out highlight for WhyOhWhy!!! Being in Croke Park for the historic England rugby match also stands out.
It was not as good as 2006 (Munsters Heineken Cup final win in Cardiff (see second last paragraph below), Irelands Triple Crown win in Twickers and Kerrys 34th All-Ireland title), so WhyOhWhy cant complain too much really.
Alas, there was also the main lowlight in the past 12 months; Dr. Crokes, WhyOhWhys home club, being robbed of the All-Ireland Club Football title in Croke Park on Paddys day last by the British Champions; Cuntsmaglen (Crossmaglen), when Oisin Im a fucking useless cunt of a Gambler McConville took approximately 43 steps before landing the equalising point in injury time. Then we were battered, abused, and finally beaten in Portlaoise in the replay. WhyOhWhys hatred of Nordies went up to another level that day; they have a man yellow carded twice, but not sent off. Their supporters abuse rival fans (some were called Fucking Free-Staters, which WhyOhWhy found fairly ironic, and some were spat on) and more. Jesus, WhyOhWhy fucking hates those nordie cunts.
WhyOhWhy knows WhyOhWhy also missed out on posting about the Six Nations, the whole GAA season, the opportunity to ridicule the football analyst Liam Hayes and condemn him for being a twat, a laughable twat at that.
So back to the TFK.com life; WhyOhWhy can confirm that it is possible to wean oneself off the forum, but its not easy and painless. WhyOhWhy had to go cold-turkey and it was tough, for example; WhyOhWhy found that after spotting a minor celebrity, WhyOhWhy would think I could put this in the celeb spotting thread!!! but then unfortunately realise that WhyOhWhy couldnttough time tough times. WhyOhWhy also missed the opportunities to gloat online after another Kerry win, abuse fellow members about their lack of inter-county success, gloat over their terrible and embarrassing beatings at, say, the hands of Kilkenny in Hurling or Kerry in football. WhyOhWhy missed those opportunities, WhyOhWhy yearned for them but thankfully WhyOhWhy came through it a better person (hopefully).
Prior to semi-retirement WhyOhWhy was the third highest poster, WhyOhWhy posted practically every working day. WhyOhWhy remembers the good old days when posters aspired to be John Giles, dreaded the days when they were still Garth Crooks and practically orgasmed when they were Pat Spillane (well maybe just WhyOhWhy). WhyOhWhy remembers when there were maybe 7 regular posters, 3 of whom sat within a radius of about 5 metres in workaaahh good times, good times. Of course, WhyOhWhy is not forgetting the smiting and exalting process, another facet of the old-days sadly now defunct, but deserving of a return (if not already back).
WhyohWhy remembers the early days, the days before the snazzy website that currently exists. When posters spent day after day thinking up contributions for the 1,000 reasons we dislike England (or close)
May I also recommend the reading of this masterpiece of gonzo sports journalism: http://www.thefreekick.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=67, perhaps the finest piece of writing ever on TFK.com.
Anyway, its good to be back, good to be back, WhyOhWhy looks forward to the future, the banter, the craic, the abuse, the slagging, the arguments, the debates, and the general wasting of time online!
Yours in Sport
WhyOhWhy
