Woeful Journalism

Martin Breheny has come up with some beauty today in the indo. A truly amazing clanger. He selects his dual dream team including players from the early 1970s to the present day. He manages to select this team and omit Jimmy Barry Murphy who was probably the greatest dual man of all in that period! How da heck did he include Alan Kerins ahead of JBM. He wasn’t as good a hurler as JBM and was a bit part player for one season with the Galway footballers. How can a so called leading GAA correspondent stand over this? Its comical.

Further comedy is provided at left corner back. The photo of Brian Murphy of 1970s Cork fame doesn’t bear any resemblance to him and looks remarkably like Brian Murphy the 2013 hurler who never kicked football for Cork[/quote]

No Ray Cummins?

that thought crossed my mind as well tabby. I know he was a better hurler than Greg Blaney but what about the football? Blaney was a very good centre forward in football. But I d say across both codes all in all Cummins should be selected ahead of Blaney and Kerins.

I know Brian Murphy (1970’s- for want of a better phrase) well, he’s lived here in KK for 30-40 years, he’s the nicest person you could ever meet but that picture is not him

This is typical Breheny.

An utter cunt of the highest order.

yep I d reckon we are correct. I wonder have the indo spotted the error yet!

Some of their journalists used to get continually mix up Ross and Rory O’Carroll. I know they are brothers play for Kilmacud, Dublin and are dual men but surely if even the less knowledgeable Dublin GAA fans can fathom one from the other, a journalist for a national newspaper should be able to do so

the omission of JBM is so comical its embarrassing for Breheny and the paper

the Brian Murphy picture thing is just incompetence.

Fuck me that’s shocking from Breheny.

who is the sports editor of the indo and how do I contact him re this drivel of a selection and photograph error?

In fairness, he probably wasn’t responsible for putting in the pictures. While I’m not old enough to remember JBM playing, it does seem farcical to omit him on what people say about him in both codes.

An absolute stone cold legend of a man. Isn’t many more decorated players in the history of the GAA. They did a this is your life for him in Nemo not so long ago.

No matter how long he’s down with ye he’s still a Nemo man!

The first line of article says “best team of all time”… surely Jack Lynch would get a look in.

Agreed. Breheny is some spastic after that

John Greene is the sports editor of the Sindo anyway afaik.

He’s included Greg Blaney and Alan Kerins for fuck sake!

A brain fart, they happen a lot with that ape.

absolutely shocking

JBM won 4 railway cup medals in football in the 1970s getting his place on a Munster team that was also calling on great Kerry forwards. Won a few all stars in football too. not many if any on Breheny’s “dream dual team” have all stars in both codes

The ray cummins thing is just as bad. He was an excellent footballer for years for cork winning an all ireland in 73 and on the team if the millennium in hurling ffs! Kerins himself will be highly embarrassed at that.
Very hard to see how breheny will dig his way out of that one. What a fuckwit.

According to Martin Breheny Alan Kerins was a bigger and better dual star than JBM and Ray Cummins lolzers!

Never heard of Ray Cummins. Cork cunts seem to think the world revolves around them. Alan Kerins has done fantastic humanitarian work.

I suppose that’s because it does!:DSo are you saying that if a fella played just 1 league match for their county each in football and hurling, then they are eligible to get on the team if they are a good humanitarian!
